The Pyro Archon is the God of Natlan. According to Ganyu in the Archon Quest Chapter 1 Act 3, the original Pyro Archon had already passed.

All of the succeeding Pyro Archons are human, and go through a process known as the Pilgrimage to help choose the next successor for the current Pyro Archon.

Mavuika is the Current Pyro Archon

Mavuika was confirmed as Natlan's current Pyro Archon in Version 5.0, and garnered enough speculation even before, as her overall design was littered with emblems reminiscent of Pyro.

Mavuika was first teased in the Ignition Teaser Trailer, acting as the host for Natlan's festivities.

The Strongest Warriors in Natlan

Natlan's long list of Pyro Archons all have the same quality of being brave-hearted and strong in power, even before being crowned as the Pyro Archon.

This warrior is then chosen afterwards to lead all the tribes, communicate with the Wayob, and safekeep the Gnosis.

The Archon oversees the Pilgrimage, Natlan's flagship combat event, as a means to help warriors realize their true potentials and possibly enlist them in the Night Warden Wars.

The other purpose of the Pilgrimage is to seek out exceptionally talented and brave individuals who may one day be able to take the title of Pyro Archon.

Leads Natlan Against the Abyss

The Pyro Archon is also the one responsible for overseeing the Night Warden Wars, a never-ending fight against the growing spread of the Abyss.

When a victorious party returns from the Night Warden Wars, the Pyro Archon then takes the ancient names of the fallen to the Sacred Flame and resurrects them.

The Pyro Archon is a wayward, warmongering wretch, and the Geo Archon is a brutish blundering buffoon! How do I know? Because, this is written in the epic poems of days gone by!

In Venti's voiceline 'More About Venti: III', he talks about the Geo Archon and the Pyro Archon. He described the Pyro Archon as a 'wayward, warmongering wretch' but did not specify whether he was talking about the original Pyro Archon or whoever replaced her.
