okay this is actually false. I'm completely F2P and cleared it pretty easily, started playing 2 years ago (so not from launch). (Nahida hyperbloom first half - Neuvillette second half) The team you said is actually not the best, replace Raiden for Xingqui for hyperbloom and don't forget to give Cyno enough ER and EM. Although I would honestly recommend just playing pure hyperbloom instead (Nahida, EM Raiden, Xingqui, flex), because it has more DPS.
Also powercreep is real! Once they introduce a new mechanic, all characters have to follow it, making older characters useless. First everyone had to be capable of using Mare Hunter, now everyone needs to scale off bond of life!
This Abyss is shit! Cyno, Nahida, Raiden and Yaoyao for first half and already lose one star. I never got 3 stars in any of the floor 12 rooms, but I at least kept 3 stars during first half and then lost the third star in second half. But this Abyss is so freaking hard! What kind of GODLY artifacts and WHALE constellations and weapons do you need for this? And F2Ps keep pretending it's possible with F2P roster and Equipment? Good joke!

My team was: 1st Chamber: Neuvillette (C1), Kazuha (C0), Albedo (C0) (just for the geo interaction), Fischl (C6) 2nd Chamber: Raiden (C2), Nahida (C2), Yelan (C0), Zhongli (C1)

the challenge keep getting harder every version but its not so rewarding, for free player like us that do not have those so called meta and best in slot weapon might just let go that 150 primos but one try won't waste my time
4.4 is surprisingly easy. Only that Wenut is annoying but 12-1 and 3 are easily doable in under 3 minutes.
Easy 1st Half: Neuvillette, Zhongli,Fischl, Kazuha 2nd Half: Alhaitham, Nahida, Yelan, Yae
First clean Nahida - XQ - Kk - Raiden Hu tao - Furina - Yelan - Zhonlig
Well, everyone says 4.4 Abyss is easier than 4.3. I think, it because its first floors are very easy. . But IMO, if you don't have Nahida and Yelan (i believe majority of players have C6 XQ, so yeah, Yelan and XQ for duo combos) for Hyperbloom spam, and Furina or Kazuha for boost DMG bonus, this Abyss is very hard because its annoying Second floors. In 3.8-4.3 Abyss, sometimes i only use 4* chars, or non-META chars for clearing Abyss. But now, it need META chars for fast clear...

My team for the first clean: Nahida - Traveller Dendro - Kokomi - Raiden Hu Tao - Yelan - Furina - Zhongli
For 12.3 if you have a hyper Raiden team you can just spam plunge attacks and the fight should be over pretty quick. Just did it on accident and it was honestly faster than the normal rotation with 109k plunges. GL and HF
I was able to clear 36 star at this abyss. I only realized I cannot clear it before because I don't actually level up my characters (lvl 81+) only the main dps. 💀
