Both versions of Luxray are played in this deck, with both options being equally effective. Space-Time Smackdown Luxray has a higher Attack Cost, but can damage any Pokemon on your opponent's side, while Mega Rising Luxray can do a solid 110 damage for only 2 Energy.

Pom-Pom Oricorio and Zeraora are also in this deck, because these two Lightning-types both offer you utility, with Pom-Pom Oricorio being able to wall ex Pokemon, and Zeraora being a strong starter.

MR Luxray Deck Strategy Guide

Trade Points Favorably Against ex Pokemon

Both versions of Luxray can deal lots of damage and can be powered up by Volkner.

Luxrays, when KOd, only give up a single-point, making it so your opponent has to KO 3 Pokemon to win the game against your deck.

Use Backup Attackers

Luxray decks also have a powerful supporting cast at their disposal, such as Pom-Pom Oricorio and Zeraora who can wall exs and accelerate Energy respectively.

How to Beat MR Luxray Decks

Use Strong Fighting-Types

Hitmonchan ex, Phanpy, and Donphan ex are difficult for Lightning decks to go up against, due to their Type advantage. They also have the added strength of being able to donk your Pokemon using efficient attacks and damage modifiers like Giovanni and Lucario.
