Basic Pokemon cards are the base evolution form, most common cards in Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket (PTCG Pocket). Read on for a list of all Basic Pokemon cards in the game and more!
List of Contents
Basic Pokemon cards mostly consist of unevolved Pokemon. These Pokemon can be evolved to their Stage 1 card during a turn if you have the card of their evolved form in your hand, and can be further improved to their Stage 2 form if a Pokemon has two evolution stages.
Pokemon that do not evolve are also categorized as Basic Pokemon.

With the exception of ex cards or those with special illustrations, most Basic cards have a one-diamond rarity and will be the most common cards that you may get when opening booster packs.

Basic Pokemon can be immediately placed on the field as either an Active Pokemon or one of the three Benched Pokemon.
A regular deck may contain several Basic Pokemon, as they can be easily played while setting up for a bigger strategy.
Most Basic Pokemon also have low Retreat costs, so you can easily switch them around in the field.
Do note that there are a handful of Basic Pokemon cards that have Retreat Costs higher than one. These are usually ex cards or those with high HP or strong attacks and Abilities.

Select Basic Pokemon cards have alternate card versions with full art illustrations and designs, which are relatively hard to get as they are rare pulls from booster packs.
These cards still play the same way as their regular card versions, and have no advantages in battles.
