Articuno ex | Misty |
・Articuno ex can snowball through teams with a successful Misty flip. ・Remember that you can Attack on T1 if you have enough Energy. |
Best Starting Hand |
---|
You would always want to have Misty in your opening hand. A successful heads flip can win you the game outright, creating an advantage that most opponents can't catch up to.
Recommended Starting Hand |
---|
A T1 Misty to a T2 Sabrina is great for keeping the offensive pressure on opponents. Use Poke Ball to get your second Articuno ex ready and Potion to keep your active Articuno ex healthy.

T1 Misty | ||
---|---|---|
A successful T1 Misty can often spell victory for Articuno ex decks, creating an advantage that's difficult to catch up to. Use Misty and turn attachments to power up Articuno ex as quick as possible.
Use Red Card if your opponent has already exhausted one of their two Professor's Research. Red Card is also especially useful against decks with multiple evolution lines. This can shuffle back evolution cards into their deck, delaying them for multiple turns.
A well-placed Red Card can keep an opponent from mounting offense.
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | A Misty start is what you always want with this deck. Always go for this turn 1 play and attempt to donk your opponent before they can evolve their Pokemon. |
2 | Send a Fossil out into the Active Spot if Articuno ex isn't ready. This works as a Basic Pokemon that can be discarded instead of retreating, making it a useful tool for buying us a valuable turn. Do note that knocking out a Fossil scores a point. |
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | Use Sabrina to draw out unprepared Pokemon from your opponent's Bench. This is great for knocking out unevolved support Pokemon like Ralts, or Pokemon that may become problems once evolved like Charmander or Bulbasaur. |
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
1 | Use Giovanni to boost your damage by 10 when necessary, and get your 2HKOs whenever you can. Use Red Card to disrupt your opponent's set up, and deny them from return KOs. |
Deck | Commentary |

Charizard ex Decks |
・Water Decks naturally match up favorably against Fire decks. ・Articuno ex will have to outpace their Moltres ex. |
Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
Pikachu ex Decks |
・ Articuno exs in the deck are all weak to Lightning. ・ Difficult counterplay to disadvantageous damage trades. |
An Articuno ex deck with no backup attackers maximizes consistency in exchange of flexibility with Pokemon options. This deck maximizes its Trainer card options however, so every card in your hand is usable most of the time.
Card | Explanation |
---|---|
Starmie ex |
・ Adding a secondary attacker can change the gameplan of the deck. ・ Starmie is energy-efficient with its Attack and can retreat for free. |

Articuno |
・ Non-ex Articuno can give the deck a non-ex option so that it can trade points more effectively. Non-ex Articuno still shares a weakness with Articuno ex, however. ・ Can still be as threatening as Articuno ex without giving up an extra point when knocked out. |
Pokedex |
・ Pokedex can give you valuable information for the following turns. |

A regular non-ex Articuno can also work effectively if you do not have a second Articuno ex. The strategy remains the same, where you would want to power up Articunos quickly with Misty and swing as quickly as possible.

I don't understand the utility of the fossil in this deck. It can't be sent as basic pokemon at the start and it gives one point if knocked while a great advantage of this deck is the fact that the opponents has to score 4 points everytime knocking 2 articunos. To me the fossil seems useless
