Omastar Deck Strategy Guide

Energy Acceleration

Omastar has a steep Attack Cost, so it is good to use Misty to try to get more Energy. Manaphy is also a good option since it also lets you safely evolve Omastar in the Bench.

Omastar Lock

Omastar can invalidate attackers with Ancient Whirlpool preventing them from attacking. Do note, however, that opponents can remove this condition by evolving or retreating. Use this on attackers that are already set up to steal a turn from opponents.

How to Beat Omastar Decks

Fast Lightning-Type Decks

Lightning-type decks that do not require much setup can be effective in dealing with Omastar decks. In addition to the type advantage, they can also attack much quicker due to a lower Attack Cost, which may allow them to secure KOs.

KO Helix Fossil and Omanyte

Since Omastar takes time to set up, you can take advantage of this by knocking out its pre-evolutions. Sabrina and Cyrus can draw them out to the Active Spot. You can also use cards that can damage Benched Pokemon such as Genetic Apex Hitmonlee.
