Dialga ex pairs nicely with Melmetal, helping it overcome its weakness of having a high costing Attack by accelerating Energy with Metallic Turbo. Melmetal can then OHKO most Basic Pokemon or 2HKO exs.

Druddigon is used as a wall that can inflict damage upon being attacked while Melmetal is setting up. Melmetal switches in once it's ready, dealing huge amounts of damage. Mew ex can also be brought in to KO bulkier ex Pokemon in one hit.

Dialga ex is your ideal start if you want Energy acceleration for Melmetal, and you would always want a turn 1 Energy attachment into a turn 2 Metallic Turbo.
You can also transfer Energy to Melmetal with Dawn on a later turn once it has been switched in to the Active Spot.

Since Melmetal takes time to set up without acceleration, the player can use Druddigon to take damage from opponents. Its Rough Skin Ability allows it to inflict damage without having to attack.

Gallade ex is a tough deck to go up against. Their Hitmonlees are able to chip out Benched Pokemon and put them into range of an eventual Marshadow Revenge KO.
Additionally, Gallade ex's Energized Blade gets stronger for each Energy attached to our Active Pokemon, making it even easier for it to score KOs against Melmetal.
Best Gallade ex Decks and Card List

Melmetal has an expensive Attack Cost, requiring 4 Energies to use Heavy Impact. Using cards that make it discard its Energy can effectively prevent it from attacking.

Fire-type Pokemon with powerful attacks can knock out Melmetal in one hit, since the type advantage they provide negates Hard Coat's damage reduction.
