Magcargo Deck
|
Strengths:
• Incredibly consistent despite running only a 2-2 Pokemon line. • Can deal lots of damage to all of your opponent's Pokemon at random. • Can win games really fast. Weaknesses: • Magcargo and Slugma have low HP. • Magcargo's Spurt Fire can also damage your benched Pokemon, so bench a second Pokemon only when necessary. • Spurt Fire damages Pokemon at random, so it also runs the risk of missing important KOs. |

Magcargo is a quick and consistent deck that is able to deal lots of damage if the right conditions are met.
If you don't have any Pokemon in your bench, Spurt Fire will deal a total of 150 damage across your opponent's board at random. The deck also runs two copies of Red Card to disrupt your opponent's setup as much as possible.
It also makes use of Silvally, Gladion, and Pokemon Communication to help you consistently find Magcargo.

Spurt Fire deals as much as 150 damage for only 2 Energy. Its limitation is that you cannot choose which Pokemon on your opponent's side of the field it will target.
While this is lots of damage for only 2 Energy, it could also occasionally fail to take important KOs on higher HP Pokemon.

This combo allows you to consistently fetch Magcargo out of your deck. Pokemon Communication is best used after you have used your Poke Ball, with your second Slugma already in-hand. Use Gladion to find the deck's sole Silvally.
When you use Pokemon Communication and shuffle Silvally back into your deck, you're guaranteed to get Magcargo because it is the only other Pokemon that Pokemon Communication can find.

Benching lots of high-HP Pokemon will help spread out Spurt Fire's damage, denying the Magcargo player of valuable knock outs. This strategy works best with high-HP Basic Pokemon, as low-HP Basics may run the risk of getting knocked out before they get the chance to evolve.

Disrupting the Magcargo player's hand can deny them of options. With less cards in-hand, Magcargo decks become less consistent and less effective.
Use cards like Red Card or Mars to make them miss a turn to evolve Slugma into Magcargo!
