Early Game Tank | Finisher | Description |
---|---|---|
Druddigon | Dragonite |
・Druddigon can deal good damage every time it takes a hit thanks to its Rough Skin Ability. ・Dragonite can finish games with a powerful Draco Meteor. |
Best Starting Hand |
---|
You would always ideally start out with Dratini and a possible Dragonair inhand for next turn. Druddigon, if available should always go into the Active Spot first to deal passive damage and tank while Dratini sets up.
Recommended Starting Hand |
---|
Another ideal hand are basics with evolutions in hand. Professor's Research lets you go two cards deep into your deck to find cards like Potion or X Speed to help get Dratini out of the Active Spot for Promo Jigglypuff, using it to put opponents to Sleep.

Druddigon Early Game | ||
---|---|---|
Druddigon is the best starter for this deck as it can deal passive damage with its Rough Skin Ability. Keep Druddigon active for as long as you need until Dratini is set up into Dragonite
Promo Jigglypuff is also a strong start, as it an immediately put opponents to Sleep. It only has 50 HP though so it is very easy to KO.
Dragonite can win the game in one swing using its powerful Draco Meteor Attack. Focus on keeping Dratini and Dragonair safe until it has four Energy on it.
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | Bench Dratini and keep it safe, allot all Energy attachments to it. |
2 | If Druddigon or Jigglypuff are available, attach an Energy to them while Dratini sets up on the Bench. |
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | Evolve Dratini to Dragonair or get it to Dragonite quickly while playing defensively by retreating and using Sabrina when able. |
2 | Keep pressure with Druddigon and allow it to take damage for as long as it has to. |
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
1 | Use Sabrina to force out an unprepared Pokemon and deal damage to all of your opponent's Pokemon with Draco Meteor! |
Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
Mewtwo ex Decks |
・May struggle to create offense early into a game. ・Slow speed may give Dratini enough time to set up into Dragonite and win with a Draco Meteor. |
Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
Blaine Decks |
・Stage 1 decks like Blaine can overrun Dragonite decks with speed and damage. |
This deck may struggle to find the correct Energy from the Energy Zone at times, leading to awkward turns where you have to attach an Energy to something other than Dratini. Its late game payoff is also difficult to achieve and requires a skilled pilot to succeed with.
Card | Explanation |
---|---|
Red Card |
・A second Red Card can be slotted in as a way to disrupt players and slow them down to Dragonite's pace. |
Farfetch'd |
・ Farfetch'd can be slotted into the deck and work as a 1-Energy Attacker which can deal damage while Dratini is in the bench setting up. However it does not have much HP and can easily give up a point. |
Card | Possible Cuts |
---|---|
Weezing |
・ A Weezing Line can replace the Druddigon and Red Card, but this would also necessitate the inclusion of Koga into the Deck. |

This list makes use of lower rarity cards, and more notably only one Dragonite. Farfetch'd makes an appearance in the deck as a low-energy attacker who can go on the offensive as soon while Dratini sets up on the bench.
This list also makes use of Weezing and Koga, where Weezing can Poison the opponent's Active Pokemon, while Koga gets Weezing out of the Active spot when Dragonite is ready.
