Several Pokemon cards, apart from their regular attacks, have Abilities, which are additional special effects.
Abilities can either be active, which is used by tapping the Ability when checking out a card during your turn, or passive, where the effect will persist as long as the card is in play.
Pokemon cards with Abilities often play a key role for certain decks, as these effects can easily influence the flow of a match towards the user's benefit.
Using an Ability does not count as executing a Pokemon card's attack, so a card can use an Ability and attack during the same turn.
Abilities in Pokemon TCG Pocket are the equivalent of Abilities that all Pokemon have in the mainline Pokemon video games.
However, a key difference between TCG Pocket and the video games is that not all Pokemon cards have an Ability.
