Turtonator is typically used as an early to mid-game attacker. Kiawe can accelerate its Energy, enabling it to attack early.
Once Flareon ex is set up and in the Active Spot, it can be used as the primary attacker or finisher. With its Combust Ability, it can make use of the Energy that Turtonator has discarded, allowing it to consistently attack with Fire Spin.

It's best to use Turtonator in the early game to knock out at least one Pokemon. You can help set up Turtonator using Kiawe.
Once you've gotten one or two points, you can let Turtonator go down and use Lusamine to set up Blacephalon with the fainted Turtonator's Energy. It is recommended to have the Beastite Pokemon Tool attached to Blacephalon to boost its damage output even further.

This is a good going first deck that focuses on accelerating energy with Kiawe, and attacks from the early game with Turtonator and Magnezon. If you have Kiawe and Turtonator in your opening hand, you can hit for 90 damage on your second turn, making this a very aggressive deck.

|---|---|
![]() Alolan Marowak (A3 027) |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ・Building the deck with a focus on Kiawe, but does end up bricking if you don't draw into him. |
![]() Team Rocket Grunt (A2b 072) |
![]() ![]() ・Can disrupt your opponent's set up if anything goes wrong. |

First, use Kiawe to attach energy to Turtonator. If you can use it on the first turn, you can get 90 damage the turn after, so it's recommended that you put Turtonator onto the field on your first turn.

Once you have started up Turtonator, start setting up a Magneton in the Bench in case Turtonator is KOd. If you use Kiawe, your turn will end, so if you have a Magneton, make sure to use its Ability first.

If your opponent knocks out your Turtonator, send out Magnezone from bench to pick them off. Neither cards are ex, so it's slower for your opponents to get points, and you'll have the advantage by attacking with three of them.

This deck heavily relies on having Kiawe as your starting hand. Being disrupted by a Red Card or just not drawing into it can snowball quickly if you have no way of getting him.

Both Turtonator and Magnezone have pretty low HP compared to ex cards which makes it dangerous if your opponent can quickly set their board up and OHKO both.
