Primary Attacker | Status Inducer | Description |
---|---|---|
Scolipede | Weezing |
・Scolipede is able to deal loads of damage with Venoshock, which costs only two Energy. ・Whirlepede also supports the deck's central strategy, being able to induce Poison and attack for only 1 Energy. ・Weezing can inflict Poison using Gas Leak while attacking with Tackle. |
Best Starting Hand |
---|
A good opening hand would always have multiple Basic Pokemon as well as Professor's Research to dig for evolution cards for the following turns. It is also good to have Koga ready for when you need to scoop up a Weezing.

An evolution and multiple Trainer cards also make up a good hand, allowing you lots of resources to use on your turn.

Weezing's Gas Leak | ||
---|---|---|
The first strategy is to have Weezing tank damage while continuously attacking and chipping away at a Poisoned opponent. Venipede will be Benched for now until it's ready to attack as Whirlepede or Scolipede.
Scolipede is the deck's main source of damage, with Venoshock being able to deal a good 120 damage + 10 if the defending Pokemon is Poisoned.
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | Send Koffing into the Active Spot and keep Venipede safe on the Bench. |
2 | Use Poke Ball or Professor's Research to find your Basic Pokemon, because benching them in the opening turns is crucial. |
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | Evolve your Pokemon. Don't forget to use Gas Leak with Weezing. |
2 | Use Professor's Research to find Whirlipede and Scolipede as soon as possible. |
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
1 | Once Scolipede is ready, use Koga to scoop up Weezing and attack with Scolipede's Venoshock! |
Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
Mewtwo ex Decks |
・Scolipede can easily KO Mewtwo ex and Ralts. ・Weezing can disrupt your opponent from building resources, by forcing them to switch around their Active and Benched Pokemon due to Poison and super-effective damage. |
Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
Fighting Decks |
・Fighting decks can hit all of our Pokemon for super-effective damage. |
Pikachu ex Decks |
・Pikachu ex decks can outpace and KO our unevolved Pokemon. ・Lightning decks like to swap around their Active and Benched Pokemon plus their Energy with Lt. Surge making the Poison strategy less effective. |
This deck is remarkably consistent, with the exception of the typical weaknesses of a Stage 2 deck. Weezing is the TCG Pocket's premiere wall, and Scolipede is able to capitalize on that with Venoshock's synergy with Gas Leak.
Card | Explanation |
---|---|
Salandit |
・ Salandit is a Fire-type that also has Venoshock with a Colorless Attack Cost. This makes it a great tech card against Celebi ex decks. |
Muk |
・ Muk also has Venoshock, but it is slower because of it costing 3 instead of 2. ・ Scolipede is superior to Muk because Whirlipede is able to support the deck's strategy by also being able to induce Poison with Poison Sting. |
Card | Possible Cuts |
---|---|
Tauros |
・ Tauros can deal a solid 120 damage to ex Pokemon for 3 Energy. ・ Its Fighting Tackle may look tedious to set up at first glance, but the deck's Pokemon have low costing Attacks, giving you freedom to attach extra Energy to a benched Tauros. |
Mew ex |
・ Mew ex is also a strong addition to the deck, as it can KO high HP Pokemon like Charizard ex, which Scolipede can't easily take down. |
