Manaphy and Misty act as Energy accelerators as Blastoise ex sets up in the Bench. Once it is set up, you may switch it in and use Hydro Bazooka.
If you are facing opponents that counter ex Pokemon such as Pom-Pom Oricorio and Meowscarada, you may use Lapras. It has decent bulk and damage, and can typically KO non-ex Pokemon in one or two hits.

Crabrawler and Crabominable ex may be used as early to mid-game attacker, being able to damage their opponents for only 1 Energy. Blastoise ex can be set up in the Bench until it has 5 Energy. Once it does, it can switch in to the Active Spot and deal 160 damage per turn.

Blastoise ex can do a massive 160 damage, but needs 5 Energy to do so. It otherwise does only 100 damage for 3, which is also very good because it can 2HKO most ex Pokemon. Use Misty to speed up your set up.
If you are facing a Pom-Pom Oricorio, you can opt to evolve into a regular Blastoise instead, as Pom-Pom Oricorio's Ability renders attacks from ex Pokemon useless.
Rare Candy is also used in this deck to potentially make Squirtle evolve straight to Blastoise ex.

Misty on turn 1 can swing games heavily in your favor by giving you a huge momentum swing on lucky heads flips.
Alternatively, Manaphy is a more consistent Energy accelerator that does not require a coin flip. However, it has a low 50 HP, making it easy to pick off by Pokemon like Skarmory or Carnivine. These two Pokemon can also easily KO Magikarp and Snom.

Rare Candy can allow Blastoise ex to start attacking early as you can skip ahead from Squirtle to Blastoise ex. Additionally, if you're lucky enough to get a lot of Water Energy from Misty, you can use Hydro Bazooka early in the game.

Blastoise ex can be dangerous once fully set up, so use a Lightning decks like Pom-Pom Oricorio and Magnezone to inflict critical damage during the early game.
The Water-type Pokemon in the deck are all weak to Lightning, and Pom-Pom Oricorio can force your opponent to use a regular Blastoise instead, which has less HP.
