This deck makes use of Druddigon as a wall as Poliwrath sets up in the Bench. Poliwrath can be put in the Active Spot once it has fully evolved to deal damage with Counterattack and Mega Punch.

Poliwrath is safer to set up in the Bench since it is a Stage 2 Pokemon. Druddigon is a good wall, as it has decent HP and can damage the opponent's Pokemon when attacked.

Poliwrath can often only do 100 damage in one turn with Mega Punch and Counterattack. You may equip the Rocky Helmet to do additional damage to attackers. Red can also be useful when going against ex Pokemon.

Lightning-type decks that do not require much setup can be effective in dealing with Poliwrath decks. In addition to the type advantage, they can also attack much quicker due to a lower Attack Cost, which may allow them to secure KOs.
Best Lightning Type Deck and Cards Tier List

Since Poliwrath takes time to set up, you can take advantage of this by knocking out its pre-evolutions. Sabrina and Cyrus can draw them out to the Active Spot. You can also use cards that can damage Benched Pokemon such as Genetic Apex Hitmonlee.
