[★ Best ★] |
Strengths:
• Infernape ex can finish off low HP Pokemon that have been damaged by Heatran. • Low Energy requirements for both primary attackers. • Arceus ex can also go on the offensive when necessary. Weaknesses: • Heatran can be an easy KO for opponents if it can't Retreat in time. • Water-types can threaten KOs on Heatran. • Reliant on Infernape ex for big KOs. |

Arceus ex isn't featured as heavily in this deck, used mainly to give Heatran free retreat. It also functions as a backup attacker that does not require you to evolve like Infernape ex.

Heatran's Ragin' Mad Strike does 40 damage, with an additional 40 more damage if it has any damage on it. This discourages opponents from attacking Heatran, and insentivises OHKOing it.
When playing Heatran, aim to have Heatran take damage, making your Ragin' Mad Strike even more powerful for subsequent turns.

OHKOing Heatran ensures that it never gets to use Ragin' Mad Strike with boosted damage.

Beedrill ex can be a problem despite its type disadvantage because it can prevent Heatran from ever attacking. Beedrill ex can ensure that Heatran won't ever have Energy to Attack using its Crushing Spear Attack that discards Energy from opposing Pokemon.
Team Rocket Grunt supports this gameplan, further denying Infernape ex of essential Energy to pay for its Attack Cost.
