Gyarados ex [★ Best ★]	• Can be set up with Manaphy. • Gyarados ex is a huge 180 HP Pokemon that can do 140 damage with Rampaging Whirlpool.
Gyarados ex and Greninja	• Can set up behind a Druddigon. • Has Greninja to help Gyarados reach HP benchmarks past 140. • Greninja synergizes with Cyrus, allowing you to gust up a Pokemon after getting sniped by Water Shuriken.
Gyarados ex and Vaporeon	• Vaporeon makes the deck very efficient with its Energy attachments, letting you move them around with Wash Out. • Vaporeon's Wash Out synergizes with Leaf and X Speed, making sure you don't discard Energy to retreat, and move them to the Active Spot at will.

Makes opponents to take four points by forcing them to KO a Manaphy, Origin Forme Palkia, then a Gyarados ex. Manaphy can set up its teammates and punish opponents for passive turns. Once multiple threats are set up, Manaphy can easily retreat while its teammates go on the offensive.

Matchups against Fighting decks that would have Hitmonlee is tough because they threaten to KO our Magikarps with Stretch Kick. In these matchups, it is important to scope out if Hitmonlee is on the field, or safely bench Magikarp only if you can evolve the following turn or have a Giant Cape available.

Gyarados ex has a hefty 180 HP which is pushed to 200 with Giant Cape. Rampaging Whirlpool can do a devastating 140 damage, KOing most ex Pokemon. Gyarados ex is a Stage 1, making it a little less difficult to set up than a Stage 2.

Magikarp is very easy to KO. Needs multiple turns to set up Gyarados ex.

Set Up Your Benched Pokemon with Manaphy

Start the game with Manaphy whenever possible and focus on getting as much Energy on the board as you can. You can alternatively use Misty and hope for good flips.

Use Origin Forme Palkia as an Attacker

Origin Forme Palkia is a single-point attacker that can do 60 to 120 damage on a lucky flip. It also has a decent enough 120 HP making it last longer against Darkrai ex's Nightmare Aura turns.

How to Beat Gyarados ex Decks

KO Magikarp Before it Evolves

Hitmonlee can easily take out Magikarps as soon as they hit the field with Stretch Kick that deals 30.

Tank Gyarados ex's Rampaging Whirlpool

Gallade ex is a tough Pokemon to go up against. Gyarados ex relies on Gyarados ex and Origin Forme Palkia for damage, while Gallade ex decks can line up their Pokemon in such a way that you have to take two single-point Pokemon before taking out their Gallade ex.

Gallade ex also does not get OHKOd by Rampaging Whirlpool because of its sizeable 170 HP, even with the use of Red

Giant Cape can keep your ex Pokemon out of KO range, which could matter in some matchups.
