Gyarados ex and Origin Forme Palkia Deck
[★ Best ★] |
Strengths:
• Gyarados ex has a hefty 180 HP which is pushed to 200 with Giant Cape. • Rampaging Whirlpool can do a devastating 140 damage, KOing most ex Pokemon. • Gyarados ex is a Stage 1, making it a little less difficult to set up than a Stage 2. Weaknesses: • Magikarp is very easy to KO. • Needs multiple turns to set up Gyarados ex. |

Manaphy is the ideal start for this deck because of its ability to set up its teammates. Once Manaphy has been knocked out, aim to send out Origin Forme Palkia.
Send out a fully set up Gyarados ex once it is ready, and score KOs with it.
Matchups against Fighting decks with Hitmonlee are tough because they can KO a Benched Magikarp with Stretch Kick. In these matchups, it is important to scope out if Hitmonlee is on the field, or safely bench Magikarp only if you can evolve the following turn or have a Giant Cape available.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() • Cutting Giant Cape in favor of Rocky Helmet can reduce your Pokemon's survivability, but can help put the Defending Pokemon into KO range. • Rocky Helmet is especially useful for KOing high-HP Pokemon like Giratina ex or ex Pokemon with Giant Cape without the use of Red. |

Articuno ex is partnered up with Gyarados ex in this deck, giving the deck more Pokemon chances to avoid Magikarp starts, and an extra target for Manaphy's Energy acceleration.
Like the deck above, this too is weak to Hitmonlee, who can snipe a Benched Magikarp.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() • Giant Cape can keep your Magikarp out of KO range of Hitmonlee's Stretch Kick. • Giant Cape can also increase the number of turns for Darkrai ex to KO Manaphy with Nightmare Aura. |

Gyarados ex can safely sit behind Druddigon and set up with Froakie setting up right beside it.
Greninja can help Gyarados ex score key KOs and help it hit important HP benchmarks that are higher than 140.
This deck is also weak to Hitmonlee, who can attack around Druddigon.

![]() Irida (A2a 072) |
![]() ![]() • Irida can help your Water Pokemon stay in the match for longer, mitigating as much as 40 damage. |

Start the game with Manaphy whenever possible and focus on getting as much Energy on the board as you can. You can alternatively use Misty and hope for good flips.
Safely bench Magikarp only if you can evolve the following turn or have a Giant Cape available. Use Magikarp's Leap Out if you are going second to safely get it out of the Active Spot with an Energy still attached.

Hitmonlee can easily take out Magikarps as soon as they hit the field with Stretch Kick that deals 30.

Gallade ex is a tough Pokemon to go up against. Gyarados ex relies on Gyarados ex and Origin Forme Palkia for damage, while Gallade ex decks can line up their Pokemon in such a way that you have to take two single-point Pokemon before taking out their Gallade ex.
Gallade ex also does not get OHKOd by Rampaging Whirlpool because of its sizeable 170 HP, even with the use of Red
Giant Cape can keep ex Pokemon out of KO range, which could matter in some matchups.

Beedrill ex can sometimes be a problem if you end up discarding your own Energy with Rampaging Whirlpool. Beedrill ex can ensure that Gyarados ex won't ever have Energy to Attack using its Crushing Spear Attack that discards Energy from opposing Pokemon.
Team Rocket Grunt supports this gameplan, further denying Gyarados ex of essential Energy to pay for its Attack Cost.

Imo Gyarados ex could probably be moved to S tier it has really good matchups against almost all the top and high tiers aside from gallade. and it's really consistent and it has the x factor in misty
