Best Starting Hand

Best Starting Hand
Pokemon TCG Pocket- Ponyta(A1 042) Pokemon TCG Pocket- Rapidash(A1 043) Pokemon TCG Pocket- Magmar(A1 044) Pokemon TCG Pocket- Sizzlipede(A1 051) Pokemon TCG Pocket- Centiskorch(A1 052)

A good hand would be to have Ponyta, Rapidash, and Magmar. These are the three essential cards for this deck.

Drawing them faster would help in setting up your board early.

Other Good Starting Cards

Recommended Starting Hand
Pokemon TCG Pocket- Rapidash(A1 043) Pokemon TCG Pocket- Sizzlipede(A1 051) Pokemon TCG Pocket- Centiskorch(A1 052) Pokemon TCG Pocket- Poke Ball(P-A 005) Pokemon TCG Pocket- Professor

If in case you have drawn a bad hand but at least have many drawing cards such as Professor's Research or Poke Ball in your hand, this can still be an advantage.

Use your Poke Ball trainer card first to hopefully draw a Ponyta or a Magmar, then with the other Trainer card, you should eventually draw another Pokemon you can use.

Strategy 1: Rapidash and Magmar

Rapidash and Magmar
A1 043
A1 044 P-A 007 P-A 005

The strategy is basically to have either Rapidash or Magmar take on the active Pokemon role to dish out damage.

Use a Poke ball Trainer card to search for either Ponyta or Magmar, then have Professor's Research land you a Rapidash.

Strategy 2: Moltres ex to the Rescue

A1 047

This alternative strategy uses both Moltres ex and Centiskorch as the main damagers for the deck.

Use Moltres ex to feed Centiskorch enough energy to perform its 130 damager attack, then have them switch places so that Centiskorch can attack with high damage.

Rapidash Starter Deck Best and Worst Matchups

Best Matchups

Deck Commentary

Pinsir Decks
Type: Grass

・Rapidash and Magmar are both strong against Grass types, making them gain additional 20 attack points during battle.

Worst Matchups

Deck Commentary

Articuno ex Decks
Type: Water

・Articuno and other Water-Type Pokemon are strong against Fire type and this deck will be in a disadvantage during matchup.
・Articuno ex has an HP of 160 and cannot be taken down in one turn by either Centiskorch or Rapidash

Overall Consistency

This starter deck is not really that good since the Pokemon cards included mostly require to evolve in order to attack.

Additionally, the other cards in this deck are not really useful and may need to be tweaked on to actually be of any use, such as adding Moltres ex in the roster.

Best Pokemon Substitutes

Card Possible Cuts

Moltres ex
Pokemon TCG Pocket- Centiskorch(A1 052)

・ Moltres ex adds value and consistency to any Fire deck that it's in thanks to the ramp that Inferno Dance provides.

Blaine
Pokemon TCG Pocket- Pidgey(A1 186) Pokemon TCG Pocket- Jigglypuff(A1 193)

・Blaine can be used to buff the damage of Rapidash by 30

Centiskorch
Pokemon TCG Pocket- Farfetch

・Adding an additional Centiskorch can add to the deck's consistency

Ninetales
Pokemon TCG Pocket- Growlithe(A1 039)

・A Ninetales line can also improve the deck's damage output. Ninetales's damage can also be buffed by the usage of Blaine.
・Consider modifying this starter deck to be a dedicated Blaine deck instead!
