Charizard ex is the deck's main attacker, often only needing only two attacks with Crimson Storm to score a victory.
This win condition is dependent on your opponent having an ex Pokemon, however. Decks with only single point attackers will require Charizard ex to attack thrice and commit even more resources to it.
Charizard ex can also OHKO the likes of Mega Absol ex and Mega Altaria ex, which can immediately win you the game.
Flame Patch can help Charizard ex attack consecutively.
This version runs a copy of Genetic Apex Charizard to help in matchups against Pom-Pom Oricorio, which Charizard ex cannot damage.

This deck list follows a more standard Fire-type Deck build with Moltres ex as your ideal starter, and makes use of new cards like Lillie and Rare Candy.
You also have the option between two Charizard exs, with one from Shining Revelry, and the other from Genetic Apex, both of which have their own strengths and limitations. Shining Revelry Charizard ex does not require you to discard Energy but caps out at 150 and costs 5, whereas Genetic Apex Charizard ex can do 200 and has the downside of discarding 2 Fire Energy.
This version runs a copy of Genetic Apex Charizard to help in matchups against Pom-Pom Oricorio, which Charizard ex cannot damage.

Infernape ex is an effective alternative to Charizard ex that has a cheaper Attack Cost in Flare Blitz, but requires you to discard all of its Fire Energy.
You can play around this limitation by attaching one Energy for the turn to Infernape ex, and then using Dawn to transfer extra Energy from a Benched Pokemon to your Active Infernape ex.

Moltres ex powers up Arcanine ex in this deck, an attacker that does not require you to discard Energy, but damages itself whenever it attacks.
Do remember that Moltres ex cannot accelerate Energy to Mew ex because it is not a Fire-type Pokemon, so you will need to commit to attaching Energy to it for three turns if you want to make use of Genome Hacking.

Arcanine ex fixes Charizard ex's problem against single point attackers, by having an attacker that doesn't need you to commit a lot of resources, and also does not require you to lose Energy when it attacks.

Moltres ex is played alongside non-ex Moltres as a way to power it up for Sky Attack.
Moltres's Sky Attack is heavily reliant on luck, and is unlikely to be consistent. However, this deck offers fun and unique lines of play that other, more competitive decks may not have. Consider trying this fun deck in Random Matches.

A clearly inferior version of Charizard ex, Charizard from Genetic Apex is a single-point alternative to its ex counterpart. Moltres ex can accelerate Energy onto it and have it ready in just a few turns.
This deck is an easier to build, but less powerful iteration of Charizard ex. Consider trying this fun deck in Random Matches,

Moltres ex is vital for a Fire deck's set up. Starting with it is always ideal. Make use of switching options like Leaf and X Speed to get a vulnerable Basic Pokemon out of the Active Spot for Moltres ex.

Keep your unevolved Basics on your Bench until they are all set up with Energy and fully evolved.
Once they are ready, use any of Moltres ex's offensive Fire-type partners to score KOs!

Decks with quicker setups like Dialga ex decks or Giratina ex decks can be difficult for Moltres ex decks to go up against. Despite having a type advantage over Dialga ex, its usual partner, Arceus ex can run through your side of the field once set up, taking out our Moltres ex and another Pokemon.
Be sure to make use of options available to you to stall out turns as you draw into cards you need.

Decks that use Moltres ex run the chance of flipping poorly on Inferno Dance turns. While lucky heads flips can often mean a large momentum swing in your favor, an unlucky tails flip means an unproductive Attack was used for our turn.
