Shaymin's Retreat Cost reduction can benefit your Articuno and Wigletts, allowing them to retreat at will and save themselves from getting KOd. Manaphy and Misty can load up your Pokemon with Energy and have them ready to attack in just a few turns.

Since Articuno has an Attack Cost of 3, it may be good to use Energy accelerators such as Misty or Manaphy in order to attack as soon as possible. You may also use Dawn after Articuno switches into the Active Spot to transfer one Water Energy from your Benched Pokemon.

Ice Dance is quite costly, which can leave Articuno unable to attack on bad Misty flips. In cases like this, you may buy time by using Sabrina to draw out unprepared Benched Pokemon, or use Mars and Iono to reshuffle your opponent's hand. The latter is especially useful against decks that require evolutions.

Lightning-type decks that do not require much setup can be effective in dealing with Articuno decks. In addition to the type advantage, they can also attack much quicker due to a lower Attack Cost, which may allow them to secure KOs.
Best Lightning Type Deck and Cards Tier List

Articuno can take a while to set up because of Ice Dance's Attack Cost. You may prevent it from attacking by removing its Energy. Beedrill ex can remove one Energy per turn while attacking. You can also opt to use Team Rocket Gunt, as lucky flips can allow you to remove all of Articuno's Energy at once.
