No Mega Evolution Mechanic Announced

In the 2.27.2025 Pokemon Presents Video, an announcement for Mega Evolutions was made just after the updates announced for Pokemon TCG Pocket. Despite appearing back to back and causing some confusion, this was actually an announcement for the physical Pokemon Card Game, and Mega Evolutions are not being added to Pokemon TCG Pocket for the time being.

Possibly Coming in a Future Update

Advanced Missions

There is a possibility that Mega Evolutions or other special ex types could come to TCG Pocket later on down the line. With some missions in the game requiring players to use cards with 3 diamond rarity or lower, instead of specifically mentioning “No ex Cards”, this wording implies that at some point there could be cards added that are above 3 rarity while not specifically being ex cards, such as Mega Evolutions!

Mega Evolution Announcement for Physical Card Game

Triumphant Light Announcement

The announcement from the Pokemon Presents was specifically made for the physical Pokemon Trading Card Game, and followed the TCG Pocket announcement for the impending release of the Triumphant Light Themed Booster Pack coming out on February 28, 2025.

The central theme for this year revolves around the Kalos Region, where the Mega Evolution mechanic first originated. With announcements including Pokemon Legends Z-A and Pokemon Champions teasing Mega Evolutions, there is certainly some cause for confusion that TCG Pocket will also have Mega Evolutions added, though for the time being, no such announcement has been made.
