Use Misty for a Turn 1 Attack

A successful turn 1 Misty can often spell victory for Lapras ex decks, creating an advantage that's difficult to catch up to. Use Misty and turn attachments to power up Lapras ex as quick as possible.

Use Red Card to Set Back Evolutions

Use Red Card if your opponent has already exhausted one of their two Professor's Research. Red Card is also especially useful against decks with multiple evolution lines. This can shuffle back evolution cards into their deck, delaying them for multiple turns.

A well-placed Red Card can keep an opponent from mounting offense.

Use Sabrina to Bring Out Low HP Pokemon

Use Sabrina to draw out unprepared Pokemon from your opponent's Bench. This is great for knocking out unevolved support Pokemon like Ralts, or Pokemon that may become problems once evolved like Charmander or Bulbasaur.

How to Beat Lapras ex Decks

Attach Giant Capes to Pokemon with High HP

Lapras ex's attack damage can KO most ex pokemon in two turns, so attach a Giant Cape to the Pokemon with the highest HP in your deck.

Cards like Palkia ex can easily OHKO Lapras ex, but another good counter would be Bibarel ex. With a Giant Cape, Bibarel can withstand 2 hits from Lapras ex and has its own self-healing special move.

Inflict Status Conditions

Status Effects can give you advantages against Lapras ex if played strategically. Continuous damage from Poision or Burn can cancel out the HP from Lapras ex's self-healing.

Alternatively, Sleep, Paralysis, and Confusion has the chance of preventing Lapras ex from attacking—giving you a free hit.

Lapras ex can be near unstoppable when its attack is ready, so using Beedrill ex or Team Rocket Grunt to discard its energy can give you an extra turn to attack if played strategically.
