Tank | To Evolve | Description |
---|---|---|
Jynx | Alakazam |
・Since you cannot put into play an Alakazam on T1, have Jynx take on the Active Pokemon role until Alakazam is ready to switch. ・Alakazam, once out, can dish out 60 damage with an additional of 30 damage for each energy the opponent's Active Pokemon has. |
Best Starting Hand |
---|
A good starting hand would be to have both Jynx and Abra immediately on T1 as it will help you set up your deck early and easily.
Recommended Starting Hand |
---|
If you haven't drawn Jynx or Abra, an easy solution is to use a Poke Ball Trainer Card to draw one, then you can also use Professor's Research to draw into Alakazam or Kadabra.

An Active Jynx and A Benched Abra | ||
---|---|---|
Since Alakazam can't be put into the field immediately on the first turn, the set up will be to have Jynx as the active Pokemon and have Abra eventually turn into Alakazam on the Bench until it's ready to switch places.
Once your Abra has evolved into Alakazam and have enough energy, immediately switch it as your Active Pokemon and start dealing damage with Psychic!
This will make your opponent's Active Pokemon take 60 damage plus an additional 30 for each energy it has.
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | Set up your board so that Jynx will take on the role of your Active Pokemon, then have an Abra on the bench. |
2 | If you weren't able to draw Jynx or Abra on your first turn, best use Trainer cards such as Poke Ball or Professor's Research to draw into one. |
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | As Abra evolves into Kadabra, you must have put energy on it as well so it will be ready once Alakazam is out. |
2 | Use Potion cards on Jynx as it continues to tank and deal damage. |
3 | If in case you haven't drawn into Alakazam yet, use a Professor's Research card to eventually get one. |
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
1 | Once Alakazam is out and ready to switch, do so immediately. Use Giovanni before an attack to deal extra damage to the opponent. |
2 | Alternatively, you can use Sabrina if your opponent's Active Pokemon has less energy than those on their bench. |
Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
Dragonite Decks |
・This deck can easily devastate Dragonite Decks since it thrives on accumulating 4 energies to deal maximum damage. ・Alakazam can OHKO a Dragonite with 4 energies, you just have to make sure that you attack it first before it attacks you. |
Charizard ex Decks |
・This deck also works well in defeating a Charizard ex Deck since those decks require a lot of energy and waiting to attack, making sure you get the first hit!. ・Alakazam can OHKO a Charizard ex with more than 4 energies since it can deal up to 180+ damage if a Charizard ex is fully ramped with 4 energies or more. |
Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
Pikachu ex Decks |
・A Pikachu ex Deck is not a great opponent for this deck since Pikachu ex does not require any evolution and can deal high damage based on your Benched Pokemon. ・Pikachu ex decks can easily knock out your Pokemon cards since it prospers on doing quick attacks, and since you require Alakazam to be evolved first, waiting could be a disadvantage. |
The Alakazam and Jynx deck is powerful when set up early, with Trainer cards to help you search your deck and draw key cards.
However, it struggles against decks focused on quick, easy-to-set-up attacks, as this deck needs time to evolve Alakazam before unleashing lethal damage.
Card | Explanation |
---|---|
Gengar ex |
・ You can switch out the entire Alakazam evolution line with Gengar ex's, but the strategy will now be reminiscent to that of Gengar ex's Deck, where you will rely on limiting the opponent's moves. |
Kangaskhan |
・ If you do not have Jynx yet, you can have Kangaskhan take its place, it works well as a tank and requires only one energy to attack. ・ Your damage will be based on luck, but you can deal up to 60 damage per turn. |
Card | Possible Cuts |
---|---|
Hypno |
・ Adding a Hypno in your deck to buy time can be advantageous. ・ Hypno can make your opponent's Active Pokemon asleep and unable to move for the next turn. |
Drowzee |
・ This card is for when you put Hypno in your deck, cut off another Red Card in the deck to put Drowzee. |
