Dhelmise ex is the deck's primary attacker, trapping opponents to guarantee KOs. It is paired with Leafeon ex, which can accelerate its Energy, helping it attack as soon as possible.
Celebi ex may also be used as a finisher when dealing with bulkier Pokemon.

Dhelmise ex can trap weak Pokemon and knock them out in one or two hits with Anchor Shot. Supporters such as Sabrina and Cyrus can help draw these opponents out to secure KOs.

Anchor Shot cannot KO Pokemon with more bulk. To prevent Dhelmise ex from getting knocked out, you may use healing cards. Alternatively, you may equip it with the Giant Cape or Leaf Cape to increase its HP.

You may use Pokemon with a Type advantage that can attack faster in order to KO Dhelmise ex quickly. Ninetales and Rapidash are good counters, being good single-point attackers that can survive one Anchor Shot.

Dhelmise ex has a relatively Attack Cost, so you may counter it by discarding its energy. You may use Pokemon that can discard Energy with their attacks, such as Beedrill ex. Alternatively, you may use Team Rocket Grunt to try to remove all of its Energy at once.

Status effects can be helpful in dealing with Dhelmise ex. You can deal incremental damage to it through Poison, making it easier to KO. Other status effects such as Paralysis and Confusion may also inconvenience your opponent, and can push them to retreat Dhelmise ex.
