Dondozo and Giratina ex Deck
[★ Best ★] |
Strengths:
• Uses Giratina ex as a battery and transfer the accumulated energy with Dawn. • Dondozo can retreat for free with Tatsugiri's Ability. Weaknesses: • Dondozo's high energy requirement makes it difficult to attack early without the right cards. • Weak against fast attackers. |

Giratina ex's main role in this deck is to generate energy with Broken-Space Bellow and transfer it to Dondozo through Dawn to fulfill the two Colorless energy requirement of Ocean Cyclone.
With the right cards, Dondozo can use its attack and deal damage as early as your third turn.

Dondozo dealing damage to all Pokemon in the backline makes them valid targets for Cyrus. Use this advantage to deal with Pokemon setting up on the bench and disrupt your opponent's strategy.

Tatsugiri's Retreat Directive Ability allows Dodonzo to retreat for free and switch in your other Dodonzo. This can be a clutch in cases where the opponent can KO your Dodonzo in the next turn and reset your whole strategy.
Alternatively, you can heal your Dodonzo with Irida to keep it in the active spot longer. With an HP of 120, Dondozo can tank for a few more turns with Irida's support.

Some Pokemon can punish opposing Pokemon for having lots of Energy attached. Alakazam, Jynx, and Exeggutor from Mythical Island all have the Psychic attack with damage that increases according to the defending Pokemon's attached Energy.
The best Pokemon for this attack is Gallade ex, with its Energized Blade attack dealing up to 150 damage to a fully powered-up Dondozo, which Dondozo can't OHKO in return.

Dondozo can take a while to set up because of its steep Attack Cost, so you may prevent it from attacking by removing its Energy. Beedrill ex can remove one Energy per turn while attacking. You can also opt to use Team Rocket Grunt, as lucky flips can allow you to remove all of Dondozo's Energy at once.

You can choose to use only two to four Pokemon cards, with the rest of the deck being filled out with Trainer Cards. This prevents the possibility of your opponent drawing out weaker Pokemon that can be OHKO'd with Cyrus.
