Stage 1 Cards | |
---|---|
Genetic Apex | Promo-A |
Most Stage 1 cards are evolutions of Basic Pokemon cards. These cards have higher HP and better attacks or Abilities compared to their initial forms.
Some Pokemon that evolve twice will have their second evolutions as their Stage 1 card. The purpose of these cards are usually to evolve their basic forms to raise their HP to give them more survivabilty all the while acting as a bridge before they can reach their final, Stage 2 form.
Most Stage 1 cards, with the exception of ex cards or those with special illustrations, have a two-diamond rarity. Next to Basic cards, you may frequently get these cards when opening booster packs.
Stage 1 cards cannot be directly placed into the field, as they need to be placed on top of their previous Basic card form.
Additionally, Stage 1 cards have higher Retreat Costs compared to Basic cards, which makes them harder to switch around in the field.
Select Stage 1 Pokemon cards have alternate card versions with full art illustrations and designs, which are relatively hard to get as they are rare pulls from booster packs.
These cards still play the same way as their regular card versions, and have no advantages in battles.
