Magby is used in the early game to accelerate Entei ex's Energy. Once Entei ex can use its move, it can be switched in to the Active Spot. It is ideal to continue to attach Energy to Entei ex so it can deal 120 damage.
Entei ex's Ability allows the player to draw a card at the end of the turn. This can allow Typhlosion to evolve quickly and do additional damage by inflicting Burn.

Additionally, Entei ex works as a secondary attacker that only needs two Energy to use.
Heatran from Triumphant Light is a non-ex option against Pom-Pom Oricorio.

Entei ex is a mediocre primary attacker, but it boasts a powerful Ability in Legendary Pulse. Having Entei ex in the Active Spot and drawing cards is often a strong strategy that can help you set up a Pokemon on the Bench.
It is also a decent enough backup attacker if you need a Pokemon to hit for 60 damage, or even a surpsie 120 if you can set it up from 2 to 4 Energy using Flame Patch in a single turn.

Blazing Beatdown deals more damage once Entei ex has 4 or more Energy attached. You may use cards such as Team Rocket Grunt or Guzzlord ex to remove its Energy and prevent it from dealing more damage.

Players who use Entei ex decks tend to have many cards in their hand due to Legendary Pulse. This can allow them to quickly search for the cards that they need.
You may use Red Card or Mars to disrupt the opponent. These cards can reduce the number of cards in their hand, which can throw off their strategy.
