Mega Steelix ex can take time to set up, so you will want to beat it by having Pokemon who can start dealing damage for a low energy energy cost. You shoud also take advantage of the deck's Fire-type weakness to score extra damage.

You may want to bring Guzma in order to discard the opponent's Heavy Helmet. This will prevent them from taking advantage of Heavy Helmet's damage reduction, making their Pokemon easier to KO.

Mega Steelix ex can be difficult to deal with once it attacks and sets up its damage reduction effect. You may send it to the Bench using Sabrina or Cyrus out a damaged Pokemon to avoid having to deal with Mega Steelix ex.

You may KO Onix before it evolves. This allows you to score a point while preventing Mega Steelix ex from being put into play.
Be cautious of Dig and its effect, as it can nullify any damage and effects. If your opponent flips heads after using Dig, it is best to focus on attacking their other Pokemon.

Pidgeot ex is the main damage dealer of this deck with Farfetch'd being used for an aggressive early game.
Farfetch'd's 40 damage output can easily halve through most low HP Pokemon on the first turn. You can equip it with Giant Cape to increase its HP.
This will buy time to build Pidgeot ex on the Bench. Use Rare Candy to skip the Stage 1 evolution and immediately evolve Pidgey to Pidgeotto ex. Once Pidgeot ex is ready, switch it to the Active Spot.
Since we use Water Energy for this deck, you can use Irida to heal your Pokemon. Use Red if you are struggling to pool damage against other ex cards.

Mega Charizard Y ex is a powerful new Mega Pokemon ex from Crimson Blaze that has the ability to OHKO every Pokemon in the game. It comes at the cost of recoil damage, however, so careful decision-making and analysis could prove vital when piloting this deck.
Crimson Blaze Houndoom can be used as an early game attacker while building Mega Charizard ex in the bench due to its quick set-up and low-energy cost.
This deck also runs copies of Charmeleon instead of Rare Candy, because of its Ignition Ability being able to accelerate Energy to your Active Pokemon. This makes the deck even more consistent.
