There will be no Resistances in Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket (PTCG Pocket) as seen in the game's card images. Read on to learn all about Resistances and how they affect gameplay, and how losing them simplifies your gameplay experience!
Resistances are notably absent from the Pokemon TCG Pocket as evidenced by the cards we have seen. The developers are aiming for quicker and more casual games in this version of the TCG and having no Resistances makes for one less thing to think about!
Resistances in Pokemon TCG are meant to mirror Pokemon's video game counterpart with type advantages and disadvantages. Some Attacks will do -30 damage to Pokemon that resist it.
An example of this would be Flying Colorless Pokemon having a resistance to Fighting.
This will not be a factor in Pokemon TCG Pocket, as the game will not feature Resistances.
Besides Resistance, Pokemon also have Weaknesses. Super-effective Attacks will deal +20 damage in Pokemon TCG Pocket!
How Do Weaknesses Work?
Type | Weak To |
---|---|
Fire | Water |
Fighting | Psychic Grass Water |
Lightning | Fighting |
Grass | Fire |
Water | Lightning Grass Metal |
Psychic | Darkness Metal |
Metal | Fire |
Darkness | Grass Fighting |
Dragon | None |
All Pokemon will only have one weakness, however, because types are simplified in the TCG, some Pokemon may have differing weaknesses.
Ice falls under Water, which will means Ice-type Pokemon, now being Water-types in the TCG will deal +20 damage to Fire-types!
Types like Fairy and Ghost are simplified to fall under Psychic, and will have different weaknesses making it so a Psychic-type deck consisting of different Psychic Pokemon will have different Weaknessess.
