Pom-Pom Oricorio can work as a wall and a win-condition against decks that are not prepared to go up against Safeguard.
Zeraora is also a decent Pokemon to start with, since it is easy to set up. This is also the deck's only answer to Pom-Pom Oricorio, besides your own Pom-Pom Oricorio.
Arceus ex is an effective alternate attacker that can do a solid 130 damage. This is also the deck's highest damage dealer.
The deck features a variety of Supporter options, including Giovanni which can let Pom-Pom Oricorio and Zeraora OHKO opposing 60 HP Pokemon like Gible, Eevee, or Charmander.

Tapu Koko ex is ideal to have as your first Basic Pokemon, since it can quickly set up with Plasma Hurricane. Then, from the second turn onwards, it's easy to spam Mach Bolt.
Zeraora is also a decent Pokemon to start with, since it is easy to set up. This is also the deck's only answer to Pom-Pom Oricorio, since it's the only non-ex Pokemon.
If you need a higher damage output move, the Thunderbolts of the Shining Revelry Pikachu ex can take down bulkier opponents. It's best to have this Pokemon on your bench at first to receive Energy once Tapu Koko ex or Zeraora are all set up. You can then switch to Pikachu ex if you need to deal with Pokemon with full or high HP.

Plasma Hurricane can set Tapu Koko ex up for a turn 2 Mach Bolt. A turn 1 Attack is always your optimal play when playing Tapu Koko ex.
Once you've set up with Plasma Hurricane, you can start attaching Energy to your other Pokemon. Set your other Pokemon up on the Bench while Tapu Koko ex uses Mach Bolt.

Healing cards can help keep your Pokemon out of Tapu Koko ex's KO range. Keep your Pokemon healthy and try to win damage trades!
HP Recovery and Healing Cards List

Tapu Koko ex will not be able to withstand damage from Energy-efficient Fighting-types like Rampardos and Lycanroc. Use these Pokemon to get an immediate advantage against Tapu Koko ex.
