Stage 1 Non-ex Attacker | Basic ex Attacker | Description |
---|---|---|
Kingler | Articuno ex |
・Kingler can deal 160 damage on two heads flips, and a solid 80 if it flips tails. ・Articuno ex can snowball through teams with a successful Misty flip. ・All Pokemon in the deck can be powered up by Misty. |
Best Starting Hand |
---|
Krabby with Kingler in hand is a great start, but even better is Articuno ex with Misty. This can set you up for a sweep if you can get lucky with your Misty flips.
Recommended Starting Hand |
---|
Another solid starting hand is Articuno ex with Poke Ball or another Basic Pokemon. Misty is always a strong turn 1 play. Use Professor's Research to dig for your next Misty or other resources that you can use the following turn.

T1 Misty | ||
---|---|---|
A successful T1 Misty can often spell victory for Articuno ex decks, creating an advantage that's difficult to catch up to. Use Misty and turn attachments to power up Articuno ex as quick as possible.
Be sure to use Poke Ball and Professor's Research as it is important that you bench a Krabby on turn 1.
Once Kingler is powered up, you will then have to attempt to flip two heads with KO Crab. This attack will do 160 on two heads flips, but will only do 80 if you flip a tails. You can still deal a decent 80 damage with this, but its high roll can KO most Pokemon ex.

Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
Charizard ex Decks |
・Water Decks naturally match up favorably against Fire decks. ・Articuno ex will have to outpace their Moltres ex. |
Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
Pikachu ex Decks |
・ Pokemon in the deck are all weak to Lightning. ・ Difficult counterplay to disadvantageous damage trades. |
The deck's consistency relies heavily on Articuno ex and Misty. Kingler ex's flip condition for its attack make the deck a lot less consistent, not to mention its steep attack cost. While this deck can be fun to play, you may want to use more consistent Misty variants like Articuno ex + 18 Trainers or Starmie ex and Articuno ex.

The Free-to-Play version of Kingler cuts Articuno ex completely to remove its reliance on T1 Articuno ex and Misty. This will allow you to more heavily play with Kingler, with new inclusion, Golduck who is an efficient single-point attacker.
The Trainer Cards in this list are mostly the same as the non-F2P list. Misty is still an auto-include in any Water deck because its ability to ramp is too valuable to pass on.
