| Espeon Deck Variants | Strengths and Weaknesses |
|---|---|
Sylveon ex and Shiinotic Deck
|
Strengths:
• Sylveon ex's Ability increases the deck's consistency in finding necessary evolution cards and Trainer cards. • Shiinotic makes the deck much more consistent with its Illuminate Ability. • Has lots of evolution cards to power up Sylveon's Evoharmony. Weaknesses: • May lack offensive power in the early to mid game. • Sylveon ex's low HP makes it an easy target to Cyrus and KO. • Pokemon in the deck have low HP, making them easy to KO. |
Espeon and Stoutland Deck
[★ Best ★] |
Strengths:
• Espeon punishes your opponent for their Energy attachments with Energy Crush, which does 20 for each Energy attached to all of your opponent's Pokemon. • Stoutland forces opponents to commit more Energy to their Pokemon to be able to attack. Weaknesses: • May lack offensive power in the early to mid game. • Stoutland requires some setup, which makes the strategy difficult to enforce on speedier decks. |
Espeon ex Deck
[★ New ★] |
Strengths:
• Espeon ex can deal a solid 80 damage for only two Psychic Energy. • Espeon ex's Psychic Healing Ability can keep your Pokemon healthy for longer. Weaknesses: • Espeon ex's Psychic Healing will not matter against Pokemon who are able to OHKO your Pokemon. • Espeon ex's low HP makes it an easy target to Cyrus and KO. |

This deck offers plenty of draw and search options, letting you have all of your cards in-hand for you to use when you need them.
Shiinotic can find you important evolution cards after you have used up your Poke Balls, while your single copy of Sylveon ex can immediately draw you two cards as soon as you evolve into it.
You will have to rely on the low HP non-ex Sylveon for your damage however, so it is important to get your Bench filled with evolved Pokemon as quickly as possible. Espeon can punish Energy-heavy Pokemon.
Your Energy attachments must always be carefully thought when playing this deck, as you must always have a Pokemon ready to attack, especially after one has been KOd.

Stoutland pairs well with Espeon, since Stoutland requires the opponent to attach more Energy than they would usually need in order to attack with their Pokemon. Espeon can then use this against them, since all Energy on the opposing side will contribute to its damage output.
It is recommended to evolve Stoutland as quickly as possible. This deck has both Herdier and the Rare Candy item to help you get Lillipup to its final evolution.
This deck also runs Giratina ex as a late-game finisher and an alternative source of damage if Espeon does not have enough damage output.

Espeon ex's healing ability is a good counter against aggressive decks. It can be switched to the Active Spot to heal critical Pokemon when their HP is low and saves you space on healing items. At most, you may only need items like the Eevee Bag to keep your Espeon ex's HP from falling too low.
The ideal strategy is that you use Sylveon ex to draw more cards, then evolve Eevee to Espeon ex to immediately have healing. If you are facing against opponents with high HP cards, you can opt to use Espeon to deal heavy damage.

Have Pokemon such as Stoutland pressure your opponent into using more Energy on their Pokemon. Once Espeon comes in, it can deal more damage to opposing Pokemon.

Espeon is best used against Pokemon that have moves requiring a lot of Energy. Moves with high Energy requirements usually deal a lot of damage, but with Espeon, you can counter them easily as long as they don't set up too quickly.
Since Espeon takes into account the Energy of all Pokemon on the opposing side instead of just the one in the Active Spot, its damage output is very difficult to reduce. Sending Pokemon with a lot of attached Energy onto the bench will not reduce Espeon's damage output.

Espeon is best used in the late game once your opponent has a good amount of Energy distributed among their Pokemon, ideally once they have four or more Energy in total on the field.

If Espeon is in play, it is recommended to knock it out in the early game before you can attach too much Energy to your Pokemon. It's not too threatening when you have less than four Energy on your side of the field.
However, if you have amassed a lot of Energy already, use Pokemon that can knock it out in one hit before it can retaliate. Darkness Pokemon and Pokemon that can consistently deal 100 damage such as Silvally are the best to use against Espeon.

Pokemon with moves that discard Energy after attacking, such as Infernape ex or Magnezone, are good to use against Espeon decks. They allow you to deal a good amount of damage to your opponent without allowing them to use your power against you.

When facing against an Espeon deck, you may want to attach Energy only to Pokemon that need it for their moves. Once your Pokemon has enough Energy to power all its moves, you do not have to attach any more Energy even if the game warns you that Energy is available as you end your turn.
