You can start off by filling your field with Koffings to get your Weezings up early so you can scoop them up with Koga when they get enough damage. Meanwhile, Darkrai ex can just sit in your bench getting energy while dealing chip damage to your opponent.

Spiritomb is a decent low-cost attacker and can punish decks that like to have a lot of Pokemon on their Bench like Mewtwo ex and Pikachu ex. You can use it to stall out for a bit while trying to get your key cards out.

Weezing's Gas Leak and Darkrai ex's Nightmare Aura can deal significant chip damage on your opponent while also pressuring them to switch out. While Darkrai builds Energy, Weezing with the Giant Cape can be used to tank damage.
If you notice that your Weezing is getting low, you can scoop it back up to your hand with Koga. Do note that the Giant Cape will be discarded if you do so.

By dealing damage to all your opponent's Pokemon, Spiritomb can set up for Darkrai ex to finish off enemies by swapping out your opponent's low HP Pokemon.

3 | Once you see the perfect chance to pick your opponents off, swap Darkrai ex in by retreating weezing with Leaf or scooping it up with Koga. |
Key Card(s) Required | |

|
1 | Once you see your opponent's Pokemon weakened, you can finish them off with Darkrai ex. |
2 | You can pull back damaged Pokemon with Cyrus if they decide to switch out. |
Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
![]() Mewtwo ex Decks |
・Can disrupt Gardevoirs by forcibly swapping them out. ・Can outpace damage dealt once Psy Shadow is removed. |
Deck | Commentary |

![]() Low Energy Cost Decks |
・Grass decks can easily exploit Darkrai ex's weakness and heal off damage with Erika. ・Having low cost attacks means they can easily break your set-up. |
![]() Heal Decks |
・Cards like Butterfree, Shaymin, and Florges can quickly heal off chip damage. While these are rogue decks, these can easily throw you off tempo if you're not prepared. |
Darkrai ex and Weezing can pressure your opponent into switching out. Setting up with Spiritomb and following up with Cyrus is great synergy for picking off opponents. While not as great as the Weavile ex version, these cards can still work well together, but can be countered by decks that focus on healing.
Darkrai ex and the other cards in the deck can have trouble taking down an Exeggutor ex that can consistently attack for 60 to 100 damage for only one Energy. If you're not using a Grass deck, you can attempt to outpace it and hope you go second so that you do not fall behind on Energy attachments.
Card | Explanation |
---|---|
![]() Koffing |
・ More offensive option than Mythical Island Koffing, but can brick if you're unlucky with Professor's Research and Poke Ball. |
![]() Rocky Helmet |
・ Additional Chip damage when Weezing gets attacked. ・ Can pressure your opponents into switching out giving Darkrai ex another target for its ability. |
![]() Shaymin |
・ Can be easily splashed in place of Spiritomb for survivability. ・ Only here just for healing, which doesn't really advance the game state |
Card | Possible Cuts |
---|---|
![]() Arbok Line |
![]() ・Prevent your opponent from switching out making them more susceptible to Darkrai. |
![]() Rocky Helmet |
![]() ・ More offensive option. ・ Additional Chip damage when Weezing gets attacked. ・ Can pressure your opponents into switching out giving Darkrai ex another target for its ability. |
![]() Sabrina |
![]() ・ While Cyrus is preferred, you can swap Sabrina in if you're still trying to pull for him. |
![]() Shaymin |
![]() ・Can be splashed in for more survivability, especially if you're using the Rocky Helmet. |

This deck focuses more on dealing chip damage with Darkrai ex and Weezing and having Arbok be your main attacker. Corner can trap your opponent and succumb to Nightmare Aura and Poison.
This deck is cheaper as you can get most of it in Genetic Apex (Mewtwo). Leaf can also be replaced with X Speed for a more budget option.
