Main Attacker | Bench Sniper | Description |
---|---|---|
Weezing | Greninja |
・Weezing can inflict Poison to the opponent's Active Pokemon. ・Greninja can damage one of the opponent's Pokemon while it's on the bench using its Water Shuriken Ability. |
Best Starting Hand |
---|
Ideally, you'd want to have Weezing's evolution line and at least Froakie and Frogadier right away to get an early setup. Professor's Research can speed things up should you manage to obtain Greninja with it.
Recommended Starting Hand |
---|
As long as you have Weezing's evolution line and Froakie right away, you can still get an early setup should you manage to get at least Frogadier using Professor's Research.
Koga can keep your active Weezing safe and allow you to replace it with another Pokemon while setting up Greninja.
Greninja and Weezing Deck Strategies | |||

Once you have Greninja on your bench and Weezing as your active Pokemon, you can just apply constant pressure on your opponent simply by inflicting their active Pokemon with poison using Weezing's Gas Leak Ability and dealing damage to one of their Pokemon using Greninja's Water Shuriken Ability.
In the event that Weezing's HP becomes critically low, instead of making the Pokemon retreat and spend energy, use Koga to scoop the Pokemon out of the Active Spot to your hand then play Koffing back onto your Bench for Weezing to return the following turn.
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | Evolve into Weezing as soon as possible to start inflicting poison on your opponent's active Pokemon. |
2 | Use Potion to keep Weezing healthy when needed. |
3 | Use Professor's Research to hasten your Greninja setup. |
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | At this point, you should have Greninja ready on your bench to start applying more pressure on your opponent using the Pokemon's Water Shuriken Ability. |
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
1 | Always be ready to use Koga to scoop your Weezing when its HP becomes low, or Sabrina to prevent Weezing from facing an unfavorable matchup. |
Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
Jynx Decks |
・Jynx won't last long against a Greninja and Weezing combo, even with just Weezing's poison alone. ・Jynx's Psychic will only do minimal damage to Weezing since Weezing only needs one energy attached to it to attack. ・Psychic-type Pokemon are more vulnerable against Dark-type Pokemon. |
Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
Fighting Decks |
・Since Weezing will be your tank and will be your Active Pokemon in the early game, Fighting-type decks can put you at a disadvantage due to their type advantage. |
Pikachu ex Decks |
・Pikachu ex can easily put early pressure against the deck, making it hard to set up Weezing and Greninja. |
Considering that the deck has Stage 1 and Stage 2 evolutions, it will be difficult to set them up consistently as there presently no ways to find evolution cards from the deck besides drawing into them manually or with Professor's Research. This makes Red Card a powerful tool against this deck as it can completely alter the Weezing and Greninja's lines of play.
The deck also lacks the damage output necessary to score consistent KOs and relies on passive damage from Abilities to deal damage.
Card | Explanation |
---|---|
Tentacruel |
・Tentacruel has the same HP and can also poison the opponent's Pokemon just like Weezing but has better damage. |
Bruxish |
・Bruxish is able to take advantage of Weezing and Greninja's incremental damage, which all buff Bruxish's Second Strike. |
Card | Possible Cuts |
---|---|
Giovanni |
・ Exchanging Red Card for Giovanni boosts the deck's damage potential and is a favorable trade off. |
