Melmetal ex has a hefty Attack Cost, requiring 4 Energy to use Metal Arms. Dialga ex is used as its Energy accelerator, attacking in the early game with Metallic Turbo.
To increase the damage of Metal Arms, Melmetal ex requires a Pokemon Tool. This deck has the Steel Apron and Rocky Helmet, providing damage reduction and additional chip damage respectively.
This deck has Magearna to counter Pom-Pom Style Oricorio. Steel Cannon deals additional damage to Pokemon with Abilities, allowing Magearna to score the OHKO.

Melmetal ex has a high Attack Cost, so it is best to set it up in the Bench. You may use a faster Metal-type Pokemon in the active spot during the early game.
Dialga ex is the best option, as it provides Energy acceleration for Melmetal ex with Metallic Turbo. Magearna is a good alternative when you are facing Pom-Pom Style Oricorio.

Melmetal ex can deal 150 damage with Metal Arms when it has a Pokemon Tool attached. It is best to have some in your deck to maximize the damage that you can infilict.
Rocky Helmet is a good option, as it provides good chip damage that can put opponents in KO range. You may also use the Steel Apron to reduce the damage that you take.

You may use Sabrina or Cyrus to draw Meltan or Melmetal ex onto the Active Spot while it is unprepared. This may lead you to scoring a KO against it early on, preventing it from being a threat.

Without a Pokemon Tool, Melmetal ex can only deal up to 100 damage. You may use Guzma to discard the opponent's Pokemon Tool, which can prevent Melmetal ex from scoring a KO against you.

If Melmetal ex has almost enough Energy to attack, you may discard its Energy to disrupt it. Due to its high Attack Cost, Melmetal ex may not be able to set up again quickly enough before it is knocked out.

Another jank idea to try with Melmetal is using Memory Light. Genetic Apex Meltan has Amass that can be used with Memory Light to ramp a Metal energy. Useful for Melmetal EX wanting a Tool and to not leave Meltan vulnerable to KO while still using its ramp move.
