Mew ex is a splashable attacker that can OHKO potent threats like Mewtwo ex and Charizard ex.
Weezing can inflict Poison on the opponent's active Pokemon and can easily be scooped out with Koga.
Lots of flexibility with Mew ex's Attack, cheap Retreat Cost, Budding Expeditioner, and Koga.
|

Deck Weaknesses | ||||||||
May initially struggle because of its low damage output early in the game.
Hard to set up another Mew ex after it has been scooped up by Budding Expeditioner.

Combo Card 1 | Combo Card 2 | Description |
---|---|---|
Mew ex | Weezing |
・Mew ex has two attacks that it can use with one being a flexible option depending on who you are facing. ・Weezing can inflict Poison using Gas Leak while attacking with Tackle. |
Best Starting Hand |
---|
Having both Mew ex and Koffing in your starting hand can increase your chances of winning early. Both Weezing and Mew have Koga and Budding Expeditioner respectively, which can return them to your hand and remove any damage they may have accrued.
Recommended Starting Hand |
---|
You can also stall out with Koffing and Weezing should you end up having less essential cards at hand, make use of your Trainer Cards such as Professor's Research to draw into one.

Mew ex and Weezing Deck Strategies | ||
---|---|---|
The first strategy is to have Weezing tank damage while continually attacking and chipping away while the opponent is Poisoned with your Gas Leak ability. Mew ex will be on the bench for now, ramping up enough energy until it's able to be switched as your active Pokemon.
Dark is preferred in this deck as Genome Hacking can copy Mewtwo ex's Psydrive or Charizard ex's Crimson Storm which will require you to drop two Psychic and Fire energy respectively. By using Dark Energy, you can bypass this cost while being able to deal a ton of damage for less Energy Cost.
The second phase of the strategy is to switch out Mew ex to Weezing and become the new Active Pokemon.
You can do this easily with the help of Koga. By doing this, Weezing will not only recover HP, but you can also have it set up once more on the field.
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | Set up the board by having Koffing be the Active Pokemon, while funneling your energy to Mew ex at the bench. |
2 | You can use Trainer Cards such as Professor's Research and Poke Ball to draw into your essential cards for your strategy. |
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | Koffing now evolves into Weezing, allowing it to activate its Gas Leak ability to inflict Poison on your opponent’s Active Pokemon. This pressures the opponent to switch or spend energy to retreat in order to remove the Poison status. |
2 | Heal your Weezing with Potion if necessary since it might have received some damage from tanking. |
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
1 | Once your Mew ex has enough energy to use Genome Hacking to copy your opponent's attack, you can switch it up with Weezing and inflict even more lethal damage. |
2 | Use either Koga or Budding Expeditioner to scoop Weezing or Mew back into your hand respectively. If your opponent's Active Pokemon is newly switched in, be sure to activate Weezing's Gas Leak ability before retrieving it. |
Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
Mewtwo ex Decks |
・Due to Mewtwo's steep four Energy requirement and reliance on trying to build a board with Gardevoir, Mew ex can fire off Psydrive faster while ignoring its two Psychic energy cost. ・Weezing can disrupt your opponent from building resources, by forcing them to switch around their Active and Benched Pokemon due to Poison and super-effective damage. |
Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
Machamp ex Decks |
・Since Weezing will be your tank and will be your Active Pokemon in the early game, Fighting-type decks can put you into a disadvantage due to their type advantage. ・You won't have the same the same firepower as Mewtwo ex when facing this deck since you're reliant on Machamp ex's Mega Punch. ・Mew ex can get one-shot by Machamp ex if they have a Giovanni card on hand |
Pikachu ex Decks |
・Mew is a dead card in this deck as it runs no Lightning-type cards. ・Lightning decks like to swap around their Active and Benched Pokemon plus their Energy with Lt. Surge making the Poison tactic not as effective. |
This deck functions similar to the Mewtwo ex and Weezing deck by pressuring your opponent to frequently switch their Active Pokemon to remove the Poison status.
This deck relies heavily on what attacker your opponent will bring, giving varying levels of reliability. This deck is best used against cards like Mewtwo ex, Charizard ex, and other cards with the high energy cost, high-damage attacks.
An exception to this would be the Celebi ex and Serperior deck and any variant of a Pikachu ex Deck since Mew ex can never get to the same level of damage ceiling these cards can pull off.
Card | Explanation |
---|---|
Gardevoir |
・ You can replace the entire Weezing evolution line with a Gardevoir evolution line. It's ability Psy Shadow can help ramp up Mew ex's energy. ・ The strategy will be reminiscent to that of the Mewtwo ex and Gardevoir Deck where Mewtwo ex will now be your tank and primary attacker while Gardevoir sets up at the bench. |
Muk |
・ Alternatively, you can replace the entire Weezing evolution line with a Muk evolution line. It has more HP, to stay on the field longer. ・ Grimer can inflict Poison status immediately without the need to evolve. ・ Muk can deal an additional 50 damage to a Poisoned Pokemon. |
Card | Possible Cuts |
---|---|
Zapdos ex |
・ You can swap out Mew ex with a Zapdos ex if you don't have the former. ・Zapdos ex needs Lightning energy, but is not reliant on the opponent's deck unlike Mew ex. ・Since switching Pokemon from Active to Benched removes the Poison status, Sabrina may become less effective during the late-game setup. |

The overall strategy remains the same: pressuring opponents to switch their Active Pokemon to remove the Poison status while setting up Zapdos ex for powerful attacks.
