This deck uses Mantyke to accelerate Energy to Mudkip before it evolves. This allows Mega Swampert ex to attack with Strong-Armed Destroyer as soon as possible.
Non-ex Swampert is used as a secondary attacker. Since it is a single-point attacker, it can be used if the player is cautious about Mega Swampert ex being knocked out. It can also be used to counter Pom-Pom Oricorio.

Mega Swampert ex has a relatively high Attack Cost. You may want to use a card that generates Energy in order to deal damage as soon as possible.
These cards may also be useful after attacking with Strong-Armed Destroyer, as it has the chance to discard Energy from your own Pokemon.
Do remember, however, that Mantyke's Splashy Toss only works on Basic Pokemon. Be sure to accelerate Energy before evolving Mudkip.

Mega Swampert ex may have difficulty landing OHKOs on high-HP Pokemon. You may increase its attacking power or deal additional damage in order to bring your opponent to KO range.

Decks with Single Point Attackers and no ex Pokemon will force Mega Swampert ex to attack three times instead of one or two to achieve a win.
A deck with Pokemon like Magnezone or Greninja can outpace Mega Swampert ex decks with speed and offensive pressure.

Mega Swampert ex decks may need to rely on other cards to help it evolve and accelerate Energy. You may shuffle the cards in your opponent's hand back into the deck in order to disrupt their strategy.
