How to Play Yanmega ex Deck

Best Starting Hand

Best Starting Hand

You want to start with Dialga ex and invest your first few turns giving it energy. Give it the Rocky Helmet to hold so you can deal chip damage while setting up.

Avoid dropping Yanma at the start to scope out if your opponent has any attackers that can hit your Bench like Spiritomb, as it will be very problematic if it gets brought out by Cyrus.

Other Good Starting Cards

Recommended Starting Hand

If you don't draw into Dialga ex, you can go for either Mew ex or Yanma. Prioritize getting Dialga ex as soon as possible with either the Poke Ball or Professor's Research.

If you put any energy on your Active Pokemon, use Dawn to move it to Dialga to get your Energy for Yanmega ex up faster.

Yanmega ex Deck Strategies

Dialga ex Setup

Dialga ex is your ideal start and partner for Yanmega ex, and you would always want a turn 1 Energy attachment into a turn 2 Metallic Turbo.

It can also pivot from an accelerator to an attacker with the use of Dawn, by transfering an Energy from a Benched Pokemon and a turn attachment of Energy, which meets the Energy requirement of Heavy Impact.

Yanmega ex Offense

When Yanmega ex is ready to attack, start swinging for 120 with Air Slash. Use Dawn to move Energy to your Active Pokemon, allowing you to possibly attack one turn sooner.

What's the point of this when you can just use Melmetal, who's tankier, does the same damage, doesn't discard energy, and only gives 1 victory point?
