Starter Decks |
The top tiers of this Tier List are Rental Decks that can function with minimal ease for best results. Mewtwo ex and Pikachu ex are quick and powerful and are consistent, which is key to a deck's success.
A Tier Rental Decks are also powerful, and can also function at a high level, but may not be as easy to pilot as the S Tiers.
B Tier Rental Decks are decent, but would require more skill to achieve success with.
C Tier consists of the game's Starter Decks. These are great for learning the game but will fall behind more focused decks.
These decks have been arranged in such a way that will show players which are good to pick up and which decks can suit their playstyle!
The Mewtwo ex Rental Deck has access to its ace Pokemon, Mewtwo ex! Its Psychic Sphere can exert early-game offensive pressure, while its Psydrive can consistently one-shot most Pokemon!
The Pikachu ex Rental Deck has the powerful Pikachu ex! Its Circle Circuit Attack does 30 damage for each Benched Lightning Pokemon, letting it do a consistent 90 damage for only two Lightning Energy.
The Venusaur ex Rental Deck can play Erika to keep your Grass Pokemon healthy by healing 50 damage from it, making them very difficult to knock out. This synergizes with all the Grass Pokemon in the Deck, most notably Venusaur ex who can already heal itself with its Giant Bloom Attack!
The Charizard ex Rental Deck has Pokemon with cheap and efficient Attack Costs, allowing them to put offensive pressure quickly and effectively. This deck has an uncomplicated but powerful gameplan, making it a great choice for anybody who enjoys playing simple yet effective decks.
Blastoise ex's Rental Deck has access to the Misty Supporter, which can power up Blastoise ex and have it ready to use Hydro Bazooka for huge amounts of damage!
The Lt. Surge has the Lt. Surge Supporter that can transfer all Lightning Energy from one of your Benched Pokemon to a Raichu, Electrode, or Electabuzz in the Active Spot. This has synergy with Magneton and its Volt Charge Ability, keeping your Active Lightning Pokemon ready to attack at all times!
Koga's Rental Deck has plenty of ways to poison opposing Pokemon, dealing incremental damage and eventually knocking them out. The Koga Supporter card can get an Active Grimer or Muk out of trouble, denying your opponents of knock outs!
Fossils have historically been mediocre in the Pokemon TCG, but could prove to be good in Pokemon TCG Pocket. The Kanto Fossils Deck makes use of strong Colorless Basic Pokemon to trade blows with the opponent in the early to mid game, while you set up your Omastar, Kabutops and Aerodactyls on the Bench!
Kabutops becomes a tank that is difficult to knock out, healing 50 damage for each use of Leech Life. Omastar can restrict your opponent's Pokemon from attacking using its Ancient Whirlpool Attack. While Aerodactyl can remove your opponent's Active Pokemon from the Active Spot with its Primal Wingbeat Attack!
Wigglytuff ex can put opponents to sleep and deal a solid 80 damage with Sleepy Song. It also comes with useful Lightning-types like Raichu who can Thunderbolt for 140, and Basic Colorless Pokemon like Farfetch'd who can do 40 for just 1 Energy!
Blaine's Rental Deck has Fire-type Pokemon with inexpensive Attacks. Their damage can be amplified with the Blaine Supporter Card, increasing their damage by 30 damage!
Nidoqueen and Nidoking's Rental Deck matches up favorably against Psychic-type Decks. Nidoqueen becomes an offensive powerhouse with a full Bench, with its Love Strike Attack doing a monstrous 230 damage!
The Machamp ex Rental Deck is decently powerful, however it struggles to get a higher spot on theTier List because of its poor matchup against Psychic Decks. Machamp ex can do a decent 120 damage with its Mega Punch, allowing it to knock out most Basic Pokemon and some Stage 1s.
The Brock Rental Deck features Fighting-type Pokemon with expensive Attack Costs. This may make it struggle in the early game, but can pack a punch in the late game! The Brock Supporter Card can accelerate a Fighting Energy onto an Onix or Golem, however because Golem is a Stage 2, this will often only accelerate to Onix. Its effects are not too helpful, and uses up your Supporter for the turn.
The Starter Rental Deck is the first deck you are able to use in the game. It teaches you the game's fundamentals and is generally a decent deck for getting through the tutorial rounds. While it can struggle to stand up against more focused Rental Decks, it is still a great deck for learning the Basics.
The Starter Rental Deck is dependent on which Booster Pack you choose at the start of the game.
Booster Pack | Starter Rental Deck |
---|---|
Pinsir Deck | |
Rapidash Deck | |
Sandslash Deck |
The Pinsir Rental Deck is a great deck for starting the game with. It has access to Scyther with Sharp Scythe that does 30, as well as Pinsir who can do 100 damage with Double Horn if it flips two heads.
The Rapidash Rental Deck is a straightforward Deck that aims to attach Energy and swing. This is a great option for speeding through the tutorial missions.
The Sandslash Rental Deck has uncomplicated Pokemon like Sandslash, which can deal a good 70 damage with Slash after two Fighting Energy attachments. This is also a good choice for speeding through the tutorial missions, but may struggle against Grass decks.
Strong Rental Decks have access to quick and efficient Basic Pokemon and powerful evolved Pokemon. A good mix of both make for a top tier Rental Deck!
Basic Pokemon with inexpensive and powerful attacks are easy to just drop down and swing with. Decks that can make use of these Pokemon and other simple strategies are the cream of the crop!
You must collect specific cards that are included in Rental Decks to unlock them.
Rental Decks will be available for up to ten uses.
Once you have all twenty cards of a deck, it will be completely unlocked and you will then be able to use it for a an unlimited amount of times.
Rental Decks are a great way to learn how to play Pokemon TCG Pocket and can help you understand how to effectively deck build. They also save you time, as you are able to use them despite not having the cards in your collection, albeit for a limited number of uses.
