[★ Best ★]
Strengths:
• Gyarados ex has a hefty 180 HP which is pushed to 200 with Giant Cape.
• Rampaging Whirlpool can do a devastating 140 damage, KOing most ex Pokemon.
• Gyarados ex is a Stage 1, making it a little less difficult to set up than a Stage 2.
Weaknesses:
• Magikarp is very easy to KO.
• Needs multiple turns to set up Gyarados ex.

Manaphy can set up its teammates and punish opponents for passive turns. Once Gyarados ex and Origin Forme Palkia are set up, Manaphy can easily retreat while its teammates go on the offensive.

Matchups against Fighting decks that have Genetic Apex Hitmonlee are tough because they threaten to KO Magikarp with Stretch Kick. In these matchups, it is important to scope out if Hitmonlee is on the field, or safely bench Magikarp only if you can evolve the following turn. You may also opt to equip Magikarp with a Giant Cape if possible.

Rocky Helmet
(A2 148)

• Cutting Giant Cape in favor of Rocky Helmet can reduce your Pokemon's survivability, but can help put the Defending Pokemon into KO range.
• Rocky Helmet is especially useful for KOing high-HP Pokemon like Giratina ex or ex Pokemon with Giant Cape without the use of Red.

Origin Forme Palkia is an effective single-point attacker that can do 120 damage on a lucky heads flip. It also doesn't require you to commit to discarding 3 Energy the way that Palkia ex does.

Having Origin Forme Palkia as an attacker frees up your Palkia ex for the late-game, making for impactful Dimensional Storms, and less frequent uneventful turns afterwards.

Origin Forme Palkia Deck Strategy Guide

Accelerate Energy with Manaphy or Misty

It is ideal to start the game with Manaphy whenever possible and focus on getting as much Energy on the board as you can. You can alternatively use Misty and hope for good flips.

Use Origin Forme Palkia for Early and Mid-Game Offense

Origin Forme Palkia is an effective single-point attacker that can do 120 damage on a lucky heads flip. Having it active early on allows you to safely set up your ex cards, which can be brought in as finishers once they are ready.

How to Beat Origin Forme Palkia Decks

Drawing Out or Attacking Unprepared Benched Pokemon

Origin Forme Palkia decks typically rely on using it as a wall so its late-game attackers can set up. Sabrina and Cyrus can draw these attackers out to the Active Spot while still unprepared, but you can also use cards that can damage Benched Pokemon such as Genetic Apex Hitmonlee.

Fast Lightning-Type Decks

Lightning-type decks that do not require much setup can be effective in dealing with Origin Forme Palkia decks. In addition to the type advantage, they can also attack much quicker due to a lower Attack Cost, which may allow them to secure KOs.
