While we recommend Genetic Apex Charizard as the best first starter pack, Genetic Apex Mewtwo is the best booster pack to open since it contains many core cards for building decks in Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket (PTCGP). Read on to discover the best pack to open, learn tips on opening packs, and view a detailed list of featured cards in each pack!
List of Contents
Before pulling cards from the latest expansions, you should pull from Genetic Apex if you are just starting the game.
Genetic Apex has cards that are required for building competitive decks. You will find that a lot of evolution lines from other expansions need cards that can only be found in Genetic Apex.
For instance, Moltres ex is a staple card for Fire-type decks due to its Ability to generate Fire Energy and is particularly useful for the new Fire-type cards in Space-Time Smackdown such as Infernape ex and Magmortar who require a lot of energy.
If you are aiming to build the best decks, then it is recommended to pull from Genetic Apex first to get the base cards you need for battles.

When starting the game for the first time, you’ll choose between the Mewtwo, Charizard, and Pikachu Packs for your Starter Pack.
Although the Mewtwo Pack is the best overall, we recommend you to opt for the Charizard Pack to receive Exeggutor ex, a powerful card for early game advantage.

We recommend opening the Mewtwo Booster Packs once you play the game, as they contain many powerful core cards not found in other packs, giving you a significant advantage in PvP.
Key cards include Mewtwo ex, Venusaur ex, Articuno ex, Gardevoir, Dragonite, and Pidgeot.

Tips on Opening Packs |

|
Focusing on a single pack, like the Mewtwo Booster Pack, is ideal until you collect all the essential cards.
Once you complete your deck, move on to other packs.
You can use Pack Points, earned from opening packs, to get single cards via the Point Exchange menu.
Booster packs and individual cards are also available for purchase in the Shop using Shop Tickets and Premium Tickets (the latter requires a Premium Pass purchase).
