This deck takes advantage of various cards to make Skarmory ex durable throughout the match. The goal is to set up Skarmory ex with Steel Apron and Jasmine, while you can use regular Skarmory to whittle down opposing cards.

Scizor and Skarmory work together as fast and Energy-efficient attackers. Since they both have relatively low HP, Trainer cards like Adaman and Steel Apron are used to increase their survivability.
If both of these Pokemon are knocked out, Skarmory ex can become a good late-game attacker.

Steel Apron and Jasmine synergizes well with Skarmory ex to make it receive as less damage as possible, especially against decks that rely on dealing high damage.
Skarmory ex's attack reduces the damage it will take by 20, which is improved if you use Jasmine which reduces damage by 50. If Skamory ex has Steel Apron equipped, it will reduce damage by 10.

While setting up Skarmory ex, you can use regular Skarmory to deal with opposing cards early in the match. It can knock out Basic Pokemon if they are holding Pokemon Tool cards, and its damage can be raised to 60 if you use Giovanni.

While Skarmory ex can tank hits with the use of its attack, Jasmine, and Steel Apron, it doesn't deal a lot of damage, so you can outpace it with the likes of Ninetales and Rapidash and other Fire type cards.
List of All Fire Type Pokemon Cards

Skarmory ex needs two Metal Energy to attack, so if your opponent moves first and starts with only Skarmory ex on their field, they need three turns to fully set up Skarmory ex.
They also need to use Leaf if they want to switch with their regular Skarmory, which they won't be able to do if they do not draw the Trainer card.
