Trade Tokens will be replaced with Shinedust as trading currency by Autumn 2025 as announced by the Pokemon TCG Pocket Development Team.
Trade Tokens, which were previously required to trade cards of 3◇, 4◇, and 1☆ rarity, will be removed from the game. Players no longer need to exchange copies of their cards in order to obtain them.
This currency will be replaced by Shinedust, which players can exchange Trade Tokens for after the update. Since Shinedust is required to obtain Flairs, they may plan on increasing the amount offered.
The team also announced that they are developing a feature that allows the player to share the cards they are interested in trading for. Additionally, they are looking into how to accommodate cards which are currently unavailable for trading, including 2☆☆ and Promo Cards.

Trading common 1◇ and 2◇ cards do not cost Trade Tokens, but trading rarer cards requires them. The cards requiring the most amount of tokens are the 4◇ ex Cards, which require 500 Trade Tokens each from both parties involved in the trade. Trade Tokens can be obtained by exchanging rare cards.
In order to trade a card, you will need Trade Stamina, which limits how many cards you can trade in a day.
The Trade Stamina cooldown takes 12 hours for each unit, similar to Wonder Stamina, Pack Stamina, and Event Stamina. This means that you should be able to trade up to 7 times in a day with a 5-stamina gauge.
Both parties involved in the trade will have their Trade Stamina consumed when trading. If a trade offer gets declined, any consumed stamina will be returned.

In order to trade a card, you and your trade partner must select cards of the same rarity. That means if you want an ex card, you will have to trade another ex card in return. You cannot trade a common 1◇ card for any rare card.
You can trade with other players even if they aren’t online at the same time. However, there is a time limit to trade requests. You must accept a trade request within two days before it will be automatically canceled.
You can also cancel trade offers you’ve made at any time before the 2-day limit is over by tapping on Terminate Trade. This can be done as long as your trade partner hasn’t accepted the trade offer yet.
You cannot have multiple trades ongoing at the same time, so you may want to cancel a pending trade if you need to make a more urgent one.
After trading cards, you can send Thanks to your trade partner. This will reward them with a Shop Ticket as long as they haven’t reached their daily limit for Thanks rewards.

Promo Cards such as those that can be purchased from the Shop or cards from Wonder Pick events and Drop events cannot be traded.
The list of tradable cards is expected to expand in future updates, so hope is not entirely lost for those who have missed out on limited-time event cards!

Only 1-4 Diamonds to 1 star cards can be traded, meaning a 4 diamond ex Pokemon card can only be traded to another ex Pokemon card with the same rarity. 2-3 star to crown rarity cards are currently not tradable.
Cards with Flairs applied to them can be traded but only for other cards of the same rarity with Flairs.
How to Get Flair: All Flair Animations and Effects
To view the available cards for trade in-game, tap on the question mark (?) icon on the Trade screen, beside the Trade Stamina gauge. Select Detailed Trade List to see which rarities from the available expansions are currently available for trade.
The best cards to trade in TCG Pocket are cards that can help you complete your Card Dex, cards required for missions, and cards that can be useful in competitive decks.
Valuable cards such as ex Cards are also good options for trading. However, they consume a lot of Trade Tokens, which may not be worth it in most cases.
At the moment, trading is best used to fill in the 1◇ and 2◇ gaps in your Card Dex.
Although you can trade 4◇ ex cards, it requires so many Trade Tokens that you may have to sacrifice several of your other rare cards in order to obtain one ex card. This makes the trading feature not quite as worth it when it comes to collecting rare cards or creating strong decks.
