Passive Damage | Late Game Sweeper | Description |
---|---|---|
Greninja | Gyarados ex | ・ Greninja and Druddigon can both deal passive damage with their Abilities, softening up opponents for Gyarados ex to take out later on. |
Best Starting Hand |
---|
Froakie with turn 2 Frogadier is a strong start, while Druddigon is the deck's optimal startin Pokemon. If there's no snipers in sight, bench a Magikarp and attempt a Misty.
Recommended Starting Hand |
---|
Start the game with Druddigon, and bench a Greninja. Play Magikarp when it's safe, and use Professor's Research to dig for evolutions.

Passive Damage | ||
---|---|---|
Druddigon can deal passive damage with its Rough Skin Ability, dealing 20 damage whenever it is damaged by an Attack. Greninja can snipe any Pokemon on the opponent's side with Water Shuriken. Remember that Water Shuriken stacks, so having two Greninja will allow you to use two Water Shurikens!
These two Pokemon's Abilites are especially useful because they do not need Energy to function, allowing you to bench Magikarp and attach all your Energy to it.
Gyarados ex's Rampaging Whirlpool can randomly discard energy from any pokemon. This move can be very advantageous if it could discard energy from your opponent's pokemon, but keep in mind that it can also take energy from your own pokemon.
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | Ideally send Druddigon to the Active out while you bench Froakie. |
2 | Bench Magikarp only if you have Gyarados ex for next turn. If you start with Magikarp, use Leap Out to get it back into your Bench. |
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
Step | Description |
1 | Evolve Froakie into Frogadier and keep Druddigon in the Active Spot to take hits. |
2 | Use Professor's Research to dig for evolutions, so that you can set up an ideal board state for the late-game. |
Key Card(s) Required | |
---|---|
1 | Get Druddigon out of the Active Spot with Leaf. |
2 | Evolve Frogadier into Greninja and begin sniping vulnerable Pokemon or put Pokemon into Gyarados ex's KO range. |
Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
Fire Decks |
・Water Decks naturally match up favorably against Fire decks. |
Deck | Commentary |
---|---|
Lightning ex Decks |
・ Pokemon in the deck are all weak to Lightning. ・ Variants with Zebstrika and Mythical Island Electabuzz can pick off our Magikarp. |
This deck's early-game gameplan is easy to enact, simply sending out Druddigon and having Froakie sit on the Bench.
Play a Magikarp only if you have Gyarados ex ready inhand for the following turn. Use Misty to quickly power it up, but be wary of Pokemon that can snipe the Bench like Zebstrika or Mythical Island Electabuzz.
Card | Explanation |
---|---|
Sabrina |
・ Sabrina can be used for more decisive KOs instead of being forced to always attack the Active with Gyarados ex. |
Card | Possible Cuts |
---|---|
Gyarados |
・Genetic Apex Gyarados can give the deck a single-point option that evolves from Magikarp, however Gyarados ex is still the superior option |
