Aerodactyl ex | Primeape | ・Aerodactyl ex will prevent opponents from evolving, letting Primeape pick off low HP Basic Pokemon with Punch. |
Best Starting Hand |
---|
You would ideally have Mankey and Primeape before you can get Aerodactyl ex out. Old Amber should be benched immediately so that you can lock your opponent out of evolving their Pokemon as soon as possible.
Recommended Starting Hand |
---|
Another good starting hand has access to Aerodactyl ex for a turn 2 or 3 evolution. Still start the game with Mankey whenever possible, and use Professor's Research to dig for resources.

Aerodactyl ex's Ability, makes it difficult for your opponent to play decks that utilize Stage 1 and Stage 2 cards. This sets up the field so that your opponent only has a Basic unevolved Pokemon as their Active Pokemon, making it easy for Primeape to chip out their HP with Punch.
Should Primeape get KOd, Marshadow can be used to take a revenge KO.

Pikachu ex Decks |
・Although Aerodactyl is weak against Lightning, Primeape can easily 2HKO Pikachu ex, or OHKO the likes of Voltorb or Blitzle. |
Evolution Decks |
・Forces your opponent to set up their Stage 1 and Stage 2 Pokemon in Bench ・Can easily KO loq HP Basic Pokemon thanks to Primeape's consistent 50 damage. |

ex Decks |
・Easily countered by decks that use attackers that don't require evolution or Pokemon evolve in the Bench. ・Notable examples include the new Celebi ex deck and Mewtwo ex decks. |
Although the deck has decent damage and locking potential, it may lack the necessary firepower to take on bigger Stage 2s if Aerodactyl doesn't lock opponents in time. Aerodactyl ex is also diffcult to search for along with Old Amber, making the deck highly inconsistent.
The deck's main strength is its positive matchup against Pikachu ex decks.
Card | Explanation |
---|---|
Marowak ex |
・Higher damage potential than Primeape and can knock out notable ex Cards in the meta, but does require some level of luck. |
Card | Possible Cuts |
---|---|
Red Card |
・ Can be swapped out for Giovanni to disrupt your opponent's Pokemon evolution before you can get your Aerodactyl on field. ・ Has a chance of giving your opponent Key Pieces they need. |
Mew ex |
・Can be swapped with Marshadow as a tech option against Mewtwo ex Decks ・Genome Hacking will let it use moves like Psydrive and Crimson Storm without the condition of discarding Energy. |
Primeape |
・ Can deal 100 damage, but requires a second Energy attachment and Promo Mankey for synergy. ・ Synergizes with Blue, allowing Primeape to survive a 90 damage attack from Pikachu ex or Starmie ex. |

This deck is easy to build because Primeape is easy enough to find in Mythical Island packs. The main strategy still applies where Primeape keeps swinging for 50 while you find your Old Amber and Aerodactyl ex.
