Some decks in Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket (PTCG Pocket) can be piloted without the use of ex Pokemon. These single point decks have the advantage of yielding only one point when a Pokemon is knocked out, forcing opponents to knock out three instead of two. Read on to see our list of non ex decks!

Alakazam and Jynx Deck

Deck	Commentary
Alakazam and Jynx Deck Deck Type:	Strengths: • Alakazam can deal a lot of damage especially to decks that focuses on ramping lots of energies to perform an attack. • Jynx can deal half the damage Alakazam does, but is easier to put into play. Weaknesses: • Weak to Dark-type decks. • Alakazam can be hard to get out if you don't get Abra on your starting hand. • Jynx is not good for tanking damage with its low HP.

Melmetal Deck Deck Type:	Strengths: • Meltan can accelerate Energy onto itself with Amass. • Melmetal can deal a solid 120 damage with Heavy Impact. • Has Mawile, a disruptive, single-point backup attacker. Weaknesses: • Requires lots of luck to pilot successfully. • Primeape struggles against aggro decks due to its low HP. • Lickitung is reliant on inconsistent lucky flips.

Gyarados Deck Deck Type:	Strengths: • Disrupts the opponent's set up with Gyarados being able to discard the opponent's Energy. • Can be powered up with lucky Misty flips. • Frosmoth is used to stall by putting opponents to Sleep. Weaknesses: • Gyarados is Energy hungry and has a steep retreat cost. • Reliant on lucky sleep flips.

Why Use Non-ex Decks?

For Longer Battles and Favorable Point Trades

ex Pokemon yield 2 points when knocked out, speeding up games because you need three points to win games. Using non-ex Pokemon can also be advantageous because of favorable prize trades against decks with ex. This means that they would need to knock out three Pokemon from a non-ex deck, compared to only two when against a deck with ex Pokemon.

Play Non-ex Battles

You can play against players with no ex Pokemon in their deck by going into Private Match on the Versus Menu, and inputting the password, NOEX. With no ex Pokemon around, some lesser seen Pokemon and strategies can be seen and enjoyed!
