WSS Gyarados Deck
[★ Best ★] |
Strengths:
• Gyarados has an inexpensive Wild Swing Attack, which only costs 2 Water Energy to use. • Wild Swing can deal up to 140 damage if you discard three Water Pokemon. Weaknesses: • The deck runs lots of Water Pokemon, which may reduce consistency in setting up a Gyarados. • Magikarp can get KOd easily because of its low HP. |
Suicune ex and Gyarados Deck
[★ New ★] |
Strengths:
• Gyarados' Wild Swing can discard Suicune ex, preventing opponents from getting 2 points. • Mantyke can accelerate Energy for Suicune ex. • Suicune ex's Ability can allow you to find cards quickly. Weaknesses: • Magikarp can get KO'd easily due to its low HP. |

It is ideal to set up Gyarados as soon as possible and fill all the slots in your Bench. You can lead with Pyukumuku to whittle down your opponent's HP and put bulkier Pokemon within Gyarados's KO range.
When discarding cards with Gyarados's Attack, make sure not to get rid of more than you need to knock out the Defending Pokemon. You can then fish for the discarded cards using Fishing Net or Fisher. Fisher is best used when you've discarded multiple cards, while Fishing Net is better if you're only looking to recover one.
This deck also contains Palkia ex in case you need a source of damage other than Gyarados. You can use Misty for a chance to power it up quickly, but you can also leave it on your Bench to receive Energy or be discarded once Gyarados has been set up.

Mantyke is used to accelerate Energy for Suicune ex in the early game. Once Suicune ex is set up, it can be used as an early-game attacker and wall.
Gyarados functions as the late-game attacker. The player can discard Benched Pokemon to increase its attacking power. It can discard Suicune ex, preventing opponents from scoring 2 points with a KO.
Gyarados ex can be a good option for a finisher if the player's Bench is not filled out. Since it has a high Attack Cost, you may accelerate its Energy with Misty.

It's a good idea to always have 3 cards on your Bench with Gyarados out in your Active Spot.
You can choose how many cards on your Bench to discard upon using Gyarados's attack. If you don't need the full 140 power of 3 discarded cards, you can choose only one or two cards to power up your Gyarados.

You can return your discarded cards to your hand using the Fishing Net or the Fisher Trainer cards. You can then place them on your Bench again, so that Gyarados will have more cards available to boost its power.

Without Benched Pokemon to discard, Gyarados has significantly less damage output. The Benched Pokemon on this deck also tend to be Basic Pokemon with relatively low HP. Use Pokemon with moves or Abilities that can damage Benched Pokemon to get rid of them such as Greninja, Electabuzz, or Garchomp ex.
You can also consider swapping these Pokemon into the Active Spot using Sabrina or Cyrus, then knocking them out with a move from your Active Pokemon.
