Ayato's build for his Echo Challenge is the same as his Overworld and Endgame build, as his Echo Challenge is DPS-oriented.
However, Elemental Mastery becomes less of a priority here as your focus shifts towards building more personal damage. Try to aim for around 80% CRIT Rate with as much CRIT DMG as you can carry and close to 2,000 ATK to make this a comfortable clear.

Most Swords that offer CRIT or ATK for their wearer is welcome here, with Ayato's signature Haran Geppaku Futsu as his Best-in-Slot, and Primodial Jade Cutter not being too far behind.
Otherwise, The Black Sword remains his best 4-star option, along with Finale of the Deep as his F2P choice.

Both Heart of Depth and Gladiator's Finale have similar benefits for Ayato, with Heart of Depth slightly being better if you use Haran Geppaku Futsu.

Ayato carries the same DPS standard as with his usual build, with more emphasize on selfish CRIT and ATK stats to ensure that each slash from his Elemental Skill hits hard.
Pillar of Fortitude Strategy
Break the Pyro Balls For Bonus DMG and Attack Speed
Over the course of the challenge, three floating Pyro balls will appear on the battlefield that when broken, grants Ayato a burst of Attack SPD and bonus DMG, as well as a good chunk of Elemental Energy.
These need to be broken with Hydro attacks, most notably Ayato's Elemental Skill. This buff is nothing to scoff at and generally halves your clear time from the moment they become available, so make sure to break them as they come.

Attendants First Before Leader
The first wave spawns three Oprichniki Vanguards on the right side, and two Fatui Skirmishers on the left. Focus down the Oprichniki first then move onto the Skirmishers.
Defeat Both Kairagi at Once
As for the Kairagi, focus more on making sure that both of them have equal health bars so you can kill them within the same few slashes.
Combat Rotation

Ayato's main all-in combo revolves around using his Elemental Burst to create an Off-Field Hydro application area, followed by casting his Elemental Skill in the direction of the opponents to cause the opening Hydro mirage to blow up on them.
Finally, hold your Normal Attack button to allow Ayato to continuously slash the opponents with Hydro attacks. After 6 seconds, its duration will run out and you can restart your combo.
