This quest will be unlocked once you have downloaded and launched the 1.2 Update. After launching the game, you can go to Entombed City - Outskirts and start the quest.

Walkthrough
| Objectives | |

| 1 |  Talk to Esther to beign the quest. She is located near the waypoint North of Wyrmrest Valley. |
| 2 |  Go to the waypoint near Starglow Cavern. From there, you can glide down and use Pyro to uncover the first beacon. |
| 3 |  The second survey beacon is located just near the first one. |
| 4 |  Turn around and go up the rock to find the third survey beacon |
| 5 |  The fourth survey beacon is located inside peculiar ice. You need to defeat a Fatui Cryo Cicin Mage in order to use the Scarlet Quartz and get the beacon. |
| 6 |  After retrieving the survey beacons, return to Esther for your next task. |
| 7 |  Your next task is to place survey beacons on elevated locations. Always look for the highest point in each designated area. |
| 8 |  One of the locations is on top of an arch, which can be tricky to spot at first. |
| 9 |  One of the locations is one the highest point of the rock, climb up and keep yourself warm along the way! |
| 10 |  Another placement location is on top of a very high rock. Always look for sides where you can climb and you can reach this safely. |
| 11 |  After placing all of the survey beacons, return to Esther to receive your reward |
The Great Mountain Survey Tips & Strategies
Fight the Fatui Cryo Cicin Mage to Reach the Scarlet Quartz
While you can avoid most of the enemies when retrieving the first set of survey beacons, you would need to beat the Fatui Cryo Cicin Mage to use the Scarlet Quartz and retireve the fourth beacon.
