Pokémon Winds and Waves Announced During Pokémon Day February 2026
Releasing 2027
Pokémon Winds and Waves was just revealed during Pokémon Day February 2026, which is slated to launch in 2027. Commemorating Pokémon's 30th Anniversary since the launch of the original Pokémon Red and Green, these new titles officially usher in the series' 10th generation.
Based on the preview, Pokémon Winds and Waves are set in a group of tropical islands, which include various terrains and conditions, such as refreshing beaches, dense jungles, huge rock formations, a misty swamp, magma-filled caves, and much more.
At the center of it all lies a luxurious, futuristic resort that looks to serve as the players' primary hub or starting point. While specific features remain under wraps, the debut trailer strongly suggests that there will be underwater gameplay. If this is indeed the case, this will be the first time the mechanic has appeared in a mainline entry during the Switch era.

The teaser also introduced the game's main characters, who appear to be explorers of this new region. Following the reveal trailer, The Pokémon Company released the official artwork for these characters.
According to the reveal, the player's main character will wear a different outfit depending on the chosen version. In Pokémon Winds, the protagonists sport a white hat with light blue accents, while the Pokémon Waves characters wear a deep blue cap with a yellow print. These version-specific differences also extend to their backpacks, though the rest of their outfits remain identical.
Introducing The 10th Generation Starters: Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua

With a new Pokémon title comes a fresh set of starters to aid trainers on their journey through this new region. The lineup includes Browt, the lively but clumsy Bean Chick Grass-type; Pombon, the guileless and friendly Puppy Fire-type; and the intelligent Water Gecko Pokémon, Gecqua.
Much like previous generations, their second-stage and final-stage evolutions have yet to be revealed. They will likely be teased and unveiled in the coming months as the game's launch date draws closer.

Alongside the new starters are two special versions of Pikachu with Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu. These fresh takes on the classic Electric Mouse Pokémon don refreshing islander outfits; Mr. Windychu wears a light blue patterned polo, while Ms. Wavychu sports a floral blue dress. Notably, their attire reflects the visual contrast between the two games, with Pokémon Winds leaning into light blue aesthetics and Pokémon Waves opting for a deeper blue colorway.
A variety of returning favorites were also spotted in the trailer—including Tropius, Finneon, Krabby, Sandygast, Wailmer, and more—all of which perfectly complement the game's tropical, island-inspired atmosphere. Beyond these reveals, it was also confirmed that Pokémon Winds and Waves will feature Brazilian Portuguese language support, marking a significant step forward for the franchise's accessibility
