The Poison Barb works similarly to Rocky Helmet where if a Pokemon is attacked while wearing this tool, it will inflict a Poison effect.
When a Pokemon is poisoned, they will lose 10 HP every turn. This damage is continuous and can only be cured through evolving, retreating, or through item cards.

Synergizes with Pokemon That Benefit From Poison
You can use Poison Barbs for decks that feature Pokemon with special moves that can only be activated if the opponent is inflicted with Poison. Those like Paldean Clodsire ex, and Scolipede will do extra damage if the opposing Pokemon is poisoned.

Poison Barb is an alternative to Rocky Helmet as a way to deal incremental damage and punish your opponent for attacking your Pokemon.
While it does not deal an immediate 20 damage the same way Rocky Helmet does, Poison's accumulative damage in between multiple turns is more significant than Rocky Helmet's 20 damage.
